Politics : A Dirty Game

Politics they always say is a dirty game. There have to be manipulations and trying to let people know that you are the best candidate. There is no way you would want to paint your opposition party as a good party because you just have to be the best person for the position.

C2CB80EC-6840-4CD1-A8A9-B005CD5FA60E.png

Back in school, I witness lots of political affairs, the student union government, Department government, and even faculty government. I didn’t engage in any as I didn’t want anything that would make people notice me or even deviate from my studies, notwithstanding the stress of walking around the school and letting the students know that you are the right man for the job and need their votes.

Apart from that the finances you put in. If you are not ready to spend money then you shouldn’t be involved in politics, you must spend money this is a criterion in politics, you have to pay for the form, you have to print fliers, and lots more, and then you have to entertain people who will be involved with convincing people to vote you in. This all went on in school and I wasn’t ready for it as I didn’t have the finances or even the strength.

GETTING INTO POLITICS AND MY REASON

If I had the opportunity I would pursue a career in politics. When I finished my tertiary education I had a conversation with my dad and we spoke about several things, we had lots of things to talk about as it was during the last election in Nigeria and it was my first time voting as I was of age. That was also my first time following up elections. I looked at everything going on and I said to him that I would love to be a politician if I had the chance. He was shocked at first because if there was any of his children that avoided politics then it was me.

My siblings all held a position in school and they all knew a thing about politics, unlike me. But I think I got to learn more as I was very interested in the last election. At a point, I felt that yes the whole political process might be tasking but then most times it is worth it especially when a good person is in power. I was able to weigh every option and I was like I would love to play the game of politics. So if I had the backing both financially and politically then I would run for political office. It would be great to have a youth in power and I am certain I would have a lot to contribute to the country's economy.

WHAT ILLS OF POLITICS WILL I CHANGE?

Sincerely, there are so many ills of politics, they are so glaring and obvious. If I had the forces to change an ill of politics then it would be removing those in power who do not keep to their political manifesto. Before coming into power, candidates are made to give a speech and even have a debate and say things they would contribute to society when they are elected into the said position. Most times after they are elected they fail to keep to their words.

During the manifesto, they tend to promise good roads, sound education, and more but then when they get into power everything becomes a cliche. Nothing works and then they make things worse. If I had the chance I would remove everyone in power who didn’t keep to their words.

Another ill of politics that I frown at is Nepotism, Nepotism is favoring relatives and family even when they are not qualified for the position, making politics a family business and this goes side by side with “Godfatherism” having someone who is backing you in politics, some people leave a position after their tenure and instead of them to rest they bring in someone who they can easily manipulate. So it’s more like someone who isn’t working left their political position, they then put in someone who they know will do according to their bid. I find this terrible, this way nothing changes.

That is why most people say politics is a dirty game. You get your hands dirty to run the game.

Politics is just a very dirty game. I strongly believe that whoever goes into politics isn't clean again.

They make so many promises only to end up not fulfilling even one of them. Imagine our current president, that man is a joke 🤣🤣

It's just a fact and not an insult . If you can just tell me one good thing he has done for us, then I will stop.
Until then , he's a joke🤣

That was a dream of his. What has he done for the country .
How much is the minimum wage and how much is a bag of rice? Let's not talk about other things.
Let's face reality he's just the face of the country and nothing more

You can only imagine how expensive the price of goods have been since he was made the President. The insecurity level is not even something to talk about , and they're so many more and you know this.
What has he done to make Nigeria better

These things were there even before he became president, so, why are you blaming him?

They were there I agree with you, but was it as bad as it is now? That's the question.
He's supposed to make it atleast a little bit better than it was but it just keeps getting worse.

The year just started and the amount of killings, suicide , kidnapping and robbery is just too much.

Let's not talk about the price of goods just this January, it's not February yet

Your Lunch Aren't being Imported anymore 😂.

At least Farmers are making more money😂.

Cassava, garri,Ewa😂😂💀

And yet it's much more expensive than when it was imported.

These farmers aren't making as much money as you think. How much is transportation of goods? A milk cup of garri is now ₦150 .
You can't just talk about one part and leave the others, how about the other people who aren't farmers?

Do you know that when our former president was in seat, things weren't imported, we ate only our own produce but yet they weren't this expensive.
A sachet of pure water is ₦40 so tell me how do these people make money? And how are we supposed to cope with that? Fine let's say they're making money.
How about the people buying these goods? Are they all making oil money from farming?

Let's face the truth here , our president is nothing but a joke , untill there's a valid point to prove otherwise, I rest my case.

Exactly 😂
They aren't even making enough money to reinvest in there farming business.

There are more disadvantages in it compared to the advantages self.

And yeah about people who aren't farmers too are also seeing lots of difficulties in the country too.

It just seems to be hard on the citizens of the country,
Not all of them duh.

He isn't doing well to be honest but we hope for a better country soon duh.

@meyateingi don't rest your case ma😂🌚.I was just pulling your legs now😂🤭

Indeed, politics is often described as a dirty game. You've thought deeply about the impact you could have in a political role, especially in contributing to the country's economy as a youth in power. So, the fact that you want to change the ills of politics, such as holding those in power accountable for not keeping their promises and addressing nepotism, is impressive.

You have pointed out serious issues that needs to be tackle in Nigeria population because those old men in power are just bunch of liar. They do not care about the well-being of the nation and it's better they are kicked out without hesitation.

I am not the type who love getting involved in politics as well but at some point, I realized that someone has to step up to make the difference.

If we keep allowing these old man, they will eventually destroy the country beyond repair

Politics is really a dirty game here in Nigeria and I can't involve myself at all. The greediness and corruption is just too much and I can't allow them to waste my life

You've got an amazing content here.

Politics is a dirty game for real but,I don't think everyone in game is dirty though but,due to the dirty ones in the game, you'd want to find it really hard to believe.

It's feels good to be here

Very interesting. I've been interested in politics for a few years now because I'm interested in the people who govern us in the sense that I then want to vote for the right person and avoid being manipulated.

As you said, in elections, there's a whole game of who gets the most votes. During our last elections, a lot of contenders started to get on TikTok. Especially people who are in the extreme parties. I think this is very bad because they know very well how to make people react and it's very easy to make people react on tiktok. So they got a lot of visibility.

Fortunately, it wasn't a winning strategy for them. But I sincerely believe that it will be in the next elections. Which I find very serious.

Your openness to the idea of entering politics, driven by a genuine desire to contribute positively, is inspiring. Everyone can make a meaningful impact but only a few are sincere and stay behind their words.
