Oops…. Dream Hair Never Happened

Who would have thought I’d publish my second post right after I published my introduction post yesterday, I guess it’s the Hive spirit🥰🥰

I saw this prompt organized by @galenkp for the weekend engagement and I just couldn’t turn a blind eye on it, so here you have it.

Growing up I watched and saw several of my friends and acquaintances have a bad hair day, it was funny most times cause I tend to ask them “How did you get yourself in this mess”.
It’s all fun and laughter till it happens to you🤦🏽‍♀️ I have been on my natural hair for 2years, no relaxer added just natural products, I have treated my hair like a baby, I make protective hairstyles to protect my hair from breakage. Well as an African lady growing your natural hair is always a big deal as it comes with so much pain and effort.

Before I started my natural journey I had to cut down my hair to get a start of fresh hair, it was a difficult decision then but I was able to pull it off and it was beautiful as I watch it grow. I applied products such as rice water, shear butter, coconut oil, onion oil, and lots more to get it soft and shiny.
What was I thinking? Should I be asking myself that question? What was I thinking when I decided I wanted to get it dyed (tinted) and curly? I was thinking it would come out great but if I had known that would be giving me the worse hair day I would have erased the thought from my head.
I sent the hairstyle to my friends, and they all loved it, honestly, it was gorgeous curly ginger-tinted hair☺️☺️ Finally I sent it to my hair stylist, I asked her can you do this? and she said yes. Now I wonder why people claim they can do something when they know they can’t 😫😫

I took my bath, and wore my cargo pants I was ready to go turn my hair into something more beautiful, well so I thought. It was going fine not until I noticed she was finding it difficult to get my hair tinted to ginger. I told her “Don’t you think this is brown?” she said it was the same color as the picture you would see it better after I curl it up. Well, she’s the stylist, so I was at ease. After the tinting process. The next step would be to get the curls.
She couldn’t curl it, she said the product wasn’t working cause it was natural hair and I needed to add relaxer it.. well I did, and guess what 🤦🏽‍♀️ The product never worked, she couldn’t get my hair curled up. It was frustrating cause it was getting late. I just stood up and left the place with her apologizing.
So my 2 years of natural hair just went off the trail like that, with damaged relaxed tinted hair. I cried myself to bed that day and woke up realizing that nothing could be done. Days later I decided to style my hair and combed it out. As they say, when life gives you a lemon you make a lemonade out of it.

It was a bad hair day and I had a severe hair break out😫😫 I couldn’t keep up with the constant hair breakage so I had to cut my hair to a lower length. Honestly, whenever I hear or see anyone having a bad hair day, I try to be understanding and not find it funny. Cause when it happened to me, it wasn’t funny 😫😫.

We all have bad hair days...it's best to own it and remember it's not a permanent state of being. Thanks for sharing your story and photos.

I'm not a hairdresser but know for sure, when you have black or dark hair and you want a lighter color, the hair must be de colored and that is a process of 6 months. Now African hair may be different, I'm just guessing as I live in Europe. So getting ginger color right away is kind of impossible. Sorry for your experience.

Glad to see your enjoying Hive! Just be yourself. Also something that is very important is going outside of your self to comment on people’s posts. It is maybe the most important thing so many overlook. so your starting off on a good foot :)

Yikes! Every hairdresser claims they can color, but, really, it is a special skill to be able to create. Sorry for your experience, but, it looks great now!
