Less Is More
I have come to notice how everyone has a lifestyle that they try to uphold. People have different living habits and one thing about me is that I do not judge. I honestly feel that everyone does what works for them. They adapt different living habits and over time some have regretted the ones they adapt while others are living just fine.
Being a minimalist has taught me to live a self-sustainable life. There are things I practice and I have had people commend me for that lifestyle and I would love to share. Some people could find it great to emulate while others would find my lifestyle boring. Well, what is good for Mr. A could be terrible for Mr. B.
One of my Self-sustainable living habits is Mindful spending. This has been one of the best self-sustainable living habits. I make maximum effort in spending mindfully. I do not spend on impulse. These days, I make a budget for the things that I need at the beginning of the month and I try to stay within the budget. Most times my friends would text out of the blue and ask if we could go out, I would say maybe next month, I didn’t make plans to go out and it wasn’t included in my budget. I’m glad that they understand whenever I explain to them and recently, they would tell me to make plans for it.
Before now, I would want to jump at any outing with my friends and I wouldn’t care if I made plans for it, I would go to the market with a list and end up spending way more than I budgeted. After becoming a minimalist and adopting the minimalist lifestyle. I have been practicing the habit of Mindful spending and if I would advise someone to choose a self-sustainable living habit then it should be this. This lifestyle and habit would help you stay out of debt and even improve your saving habits.
Another Self-sustainable Living Habit in which I practice is Reducing Food Waste. Before now, I was big on wasting food. I would always make too much food and end up throwing it away. I am someone that I do not like repeating meals. I always want to eat different meals, as I get tired of one particular meal. So most times I end up not eating that meal again and throwing it away which I realized was bad.
So I have practiced the lifestyle of reducing food waste. I try to store my food properly and only cook what I can finish at a particular time so I don’t get tired of it and end up not eating it. Some people love cooking large quantities of food and they do not waste it. That’s great but if there’s someone like me, who gets tired of eating one particular type of food, I would advise you to cook in small quantities to avoid Food wastage.
One other self-sustainable habit, that I have adopted like a lifestyle is Choosing Quality over Quantity This covers material possessions and also humans. I would always choose fewer friends over more. I prefer one honest person as a friend to thousands of dishonest friends just because I want friends. Most people just want to be in everyone's good books but then they forget you can’t please everyone. Choose your friends, have certain criteria for your friends, and work with that. I do not have many friends but I love it because it gives me peace. I always put a label on every relationship I have with people. Not everyone is my friend. I prefer choosing Quality over Quantity. I believe less is more as long as it is of good quality.
This has helped me live life peacefully and happily. I have learned to prioritize my happiness which I believe most people should choose even if you are not a minimalist. Your peace and happiness matters first.

That is huge and causes so much damage to the environment. I am very mindful of it, and very very rarely have any food waste now!
Cracking wee pic B with the 5 e's!
You rarely waste food, that’s a good trait, i am still trying to adopt that lifestyle. Not so perfect at it.
I think it helps I love to cook, so if anything is left over then I will use in the next meal. And now I do make sure I eat food in the fridge, I have been guilty of letting things go off in the past! You are getting there too...
Thank you
I think you are doing really fine as I also have this two habit you listed here, except the last one. Mindful spending is what I learned from my oldies, though we also gave in to our wants sometimes but still with limits. With mindful spending, I can save more, aside from that I can use my money into more meaning things. Same with reducing Food Waste. We always prepared foods for what our belly can take. My oldies hate wasting food, that's also that one thing they taught me. It should be jusy enough, nothing will be wasted and everyone's will be happy ✨.
I love that we share similar traits☺️☺️ Wasting food is really terrible
