Kindness : The Key to Healthier Living
Kindness is a trait that everyone should have. Most times I wonder how people find it difficult to show kindness. Showing kindness has to be the simplest and easiest thing anyone could give out. It takes nothing to be kind. Kindness is something everyone should be a millionaire in. I look at people who find it difficult to be kind and I wonder how they cope.
When it comes to Health and kindness there is a deep connection. Act of Kindness has a positive and strong impact on one’s mental health and physical health. It takes a few minutes to be kind to someone and boom! you could contribute to the health of that fellow. A little act of kindness can make someone feel better and impact that person’s life.
EFFECTS OF KINDNESS ON OUR MENTAL HEALTH
Few times I have seen movies where people were bullied when they were little and I could see the mental effect it has on them growing up. Most times they get nightmares and can’t let go of the events that come with it and then they end up getting revenge for it. Being bullied could have a terrible effect on people’s mental health. Then I think kindness could have a positive effect on people.
I have encountered situations where I was depressed and didn’t feel like talking to anyone. I just had someone show me so much love and kindness and then I feel better. Times where I feel like I am not doing enough for myself but just a bit of kindness and then I feel much better. Being kind enhances our sense of purpose and creates meaningful connections which helps build our mental health positively. Both at the receiving end and giving end, we tend to feel better mentally.
INFLUENCE OF KINDNESS ON OUR PHYSICAL WELL-BEING
Kindness brings about happiness. When you are kind to people and when people are kind to you. You stay happy and when you are happy it tends to boost your immune system and physically you feel better.
Most times someone could be low on finances but then they get this glow that you start wondering if they have money stashed up somewhere. Well, most times we remain physically fit because we are happy. When you are kind, you tend to sleep better thereby boosting your physical well-being.
HEALTH BENEFIT ATTRIBUTED TO KINDNESS
Research has shown that kindness can be cardioprotective and can reduce blood pressure.
Most times blood pressure comes as a result of overthinking and stress. Kindness helps relax one’s mind and that way you feel better health-wise.
KINDNESS JOURNAL
When I saw the Kindness Journal. I said this won’t be difficult maybe one of it could be difficult which is “Let a car merge into your lane in traffic” Well that’s difficult because I have no car yet hehe..
Well, each day I was able to carry out one activity and honestly, I felt better.
First I was able to assist a student. I have a junior colleague who’s doing the same course I offered at my Tertiary level. Happens that this week she was having her school defense and needed help with certain things. I was glad that I could offer some help to her and when she had her defense, she didn’t stop telling me how great she did. I was going through a terrible mood but when she told me about it I was happy for her.
Secondly, People say I giggle a lot and I always have a smile on my face. So smiling at a stranger wasn’t a difficult thing because I did so effortlessly and it is always great when my smile gets returned.
Yesterday, I had a class with my Pharmacy students and then I had one of my students walk up to me at the end of the class to ask a question. When I was done explaining it to her, I looked at her and said “You should smile more, you have a great smile” I was the one giving the compliment but I felt really happy that she gave a great smile afterwards. I ran into her today and then she hugged me.
Kindness is great and I just hope everyone would be so kind enough to be kind to everyone.

RAOK I was brought up with good manners, you know the sort of thing, always hold the door open for a lady, help your elders cross the road.Always use please and thank you etc etc.
So that gets componeded into RAOK Random Acts of Kindness that you can do to a stranger. I always say hello to people when I am walking. Smile or nod your head is a similar thing.
B with the 5 e's would light up anywhere with her infectious presence. Yes a teacher is a great profession for you, the kids would love you!

You know the simplest of things are actually the most difficult to do just like kindness.
Very nice post. I must quietly disagree with the last line. Especially since I believed it till 3 weeks ago. But i don't think it takes nothing. It takes a lot of character, upbringing, trust, and vulnerability to be empathize and be kind, at least be intentionally kind. However all of these points are such fundamental things that if we lived life right we should have it in us and we feel like we need nothing :)
