The one digi-skill I yearn for.

"Hey Becky, have you checked out my new page on Facebook?" That was Sharon bombarding me as usual with her question on the phone.

"No Sharon, I haven't but I'll be sure to do so later in the day ok" I assured her or else I wouldn't hear the end of it. Sharon already has two pages with a thriving amount of followers on her page which she uses to advertise her clothing line.

It is funny how little things like this can be life changing. My friend Sharon is a go getter especially when it comes to digital activities. Sometimes I can't help but compare her brains to a literal processing device of a computer. Too bad I'm not as motivated as she is when it comes to techy stuff. Don't get me wrong, I love the digi-verse and all its endless possibilities but there are just some aspects that seem like I'm climbing mount Everest to me.

If there is one digital skill I wish I had then that would definitely be digital marketing skills. The simplest definition that I can come up with for this skill is;

Digital marketing is a medium of reaching target audience via social media tools with your product or services so that these target audience will become customers and patronize you.

From that simple definition above, you can see that this digital skill is business oriented. I can't go everywhere but my brand can, if the right channels are used to spread it abroad. One very specific aspect of digital marketing that I'm particular about is affiliate marketing.

The numerous reports of how one can make passive income just by recommending brands to target audience is eye-catching. With the way things are going in my country's economy, I don't need a soothsayer to let me know that more streams of income is required but heck I already have my hands full with teaching from dawn to dusk. So how then can I make more income without straining myself beyond limit....? The answer to this question is digital marketing.

If I had a good knowledge of how to navigate the digi-verse to harness this skill, hmm I'd be balling. The extra passive income I'll make from this skill would go a long way in keeping my little family afloat irrespective of what the economy is saying. I would be able to pursue other goals that requires finances and work my way to becoming an entrepreneur with chains of businesses.

What's holding me back?

Money and time . These are the two factors currently holding me back but If the money was available to pay for the training then automatically I would find the time for it. I tried on two occasions to get registered with some online affiliate marketers who claimed that they would teach it in an online class for a pretty affordable sum but guess what?, after joining their online class on WhatsApp, the so called pretty affordable sum was no longer affordable. One of such classes asked us to pay five hundred thousand naira (#500,000) while another one asked for two hundred and fifty thousand naira (#250,000) before the real teachings can be taught to us.

Already, I'm skeptical about some online transactions as there are many wolves in sheep clothing and I also understand that these marketers did not get their knowledge for free, hence they won't also transfer the knowledge for free. But if there was just a way they could make the payments installments while teachings progressed as usual, then it would be superb.

I believe with an affordable coach, a good laptop, and the right time range for classes, honing this digital skill will be a piece of cake.

Thank you all for reading. This is my entry to the #digi-prompt 008 in the digital lifestyle community.

Learning digital skills now are very expensive because of their demand in the market, many companies are in need of this skills and the people who offer it are going to request more money if the skills have more indepth path. Digital marketing is one of the skill that has so many things attached to it and if you learn it, I am sure you will like it

Digital marketing is something I want to learn also, I once paid about fifty something thousand naira in 2021 to learn. The guy just gave us loads of reading materials without mentoring us on what and how to go about it.

After reading reading and watching videos online, I gave up

You can see why I don't want to pay to any random coach. I would prefer good mentorship.

This is really thoughtful. Learning digital skills requires more than just interest - it demands consistency, dedication, and the right resources.

Imagine paying such huge amount of money...seriously, money is the major setback for learning something you want to achieve but once there is the finance, every other thing will flow smoothly.

This is correct o. Once the money is available to learn, the zeal to learn and keep up will follow

That's actually a lot of money. Normally, I don't like to undervalue knowledge, but the question is if you would actually nail a job or get connected to opportunities after the program. Otherwise, just find ways to learn for free, perhaps on YouTube.

Anyway, when you start balling, remember your people... I hope you get started soon enough.
