How do you build genuine connection on hive?

This is a good one and something I have a lot of experience in by the way. I believe one of the factors to building a genuine connections on hive is to be a genuine person yourself.

What I mean by this is that, recognize that hive is unlike those web 2 platforms where you can post anything and it goes. Some people post other people's content, claiming them as theirs on web 2 platforms and no one calls them out for it especially when it seems like no harm was done. But here on hive, you cannot do that. Hence, the need for genuineness and ingenuity from a content creator.

Hive is a very special platform. One that seeks to protect it's users and it's ecosystem. If a person is not real here, there's no way they can last long on hive. So being a genuine person is a very important criteria to building genuine connections on hive.

Another criteria is to be relatable. This goes without saying. Even the Bible says "he that requires friendships should be friendly". You can't be a hostile, maniac, or a psycho and be here to build connections. It won't work. People are not dummies. They can easily sniff hostility and stay far away from you. I know that I can 😝

Be friendly. It doesn't cost much neither does it change the colour of your skin or reduce the money in your bank account 😁😁. Say nice things to people. The world will not end when you do so.

The world is already a tough battle field. People are going through a lot at home, at their work place and so much more. They need a space where they can find peace and serenity. The least you can do is to empathize and be kind to those you meet here on the block chain. Remember that hivers are not robots. There is a living, breathing person behind those wonderful or weird useenames you come across. friendliness like a balm would draw many close to you, hence building connections.

Thirdly, be a leech with a niche. I made that up but I'll explain. One of the things I learnt from some hivers here is to be a good engager. Don't just write posts and dump them on the blog chain and go your way. Engage genuinely and meaningfully with other users. Upvote and leave a comment on the posts of others and the same will be done for your posts.

Have a community niche, where you are well represented with your input and effort on your posts.

Lastly, do well to carry others along. Hive is for everyone. Don't hoard contests or contents that can benefit others. That's why there is a reblog button for you to use. Tag people as long as they don't mind to good posts that can benefit them. Nigerians are known for sharing national cake. Let's handle hive like that.

I know some hivers that will never tag another hiver except it is a mandatory rule. This should not be. Feel free to carry others along. It might seem like a waste of time at first, but when you keep at it and your genuine intentions are seen, they will adjust and blend. This will also create a good impression in the hearts of the hivers you are tagging.

I don't know about other people but personally, I like being tagged. I see it as a fast way to get information that I would not have easily seen while on the block chain. It also gives me a sense of importance. I feel like the one tagging me holds me dear and so I respond to their tags with appreciation.

There are so many more factors but these ones I mentioned are key factors that can help build genuine connections and also sustain those connections on hive.
