My destiny, My rules........QC prompt #152.
There are certain things that happen to people, good or bad. These events have been given several names like fate, fortune or destiny.
Growing up, I have heard a lot of people reference their life to destiny. Some say that destiny equals que se re, se ra meaning that whatever will be, will be. This claim has its root in the idea of ”nobody can change their fate”.
I think this ideology stems from the three sisters of fate also called Morai from ancient Greek mythology. According to myth, these three sisters were responsible for people's fates. One of them spun the golden thread of life, the second one measured the thread while the third sister cut the thread, signifying the end of a person's journey.
Sadly, I never believed in that myth nor do I believe that my destiny is in the hands of any mortal. The term dastiny refers to a course of events that will inevitably happen to a person in the future. It could also refer to *a person's overall condition in life.
From both definitions, can I suffice it to mean that people who are currently poor and wretched in life, are that way because it was inevitable? Isn't that logic a bit biased?
To the best of my knowledge, I understand that human choices which stem from our free will, plays a crucial role in how we end up in life.
This reminds me of a movie I watched a while back. In that movie, a teacher brought a magic mirror to her class and asked the children to each stand in front of the mirror so they could see their future.
A poor orphan boy stood in front of the mirror and saw his future self well dressed and living well but a proud rich girl in class stood in front of the mirror and saw her future self as a beggar. At the end of the movie, both students' futures became a reality.
*The poor orphan boy became a successful CEO while the proud rich girl became a beggar. In an interview, the now rich CEO was asked about his secret and he boldly said this ”I worked hard, took my studies seriously, never socialized or went clubbing”.
It turns out that the beggar girl was watching his interview on a billboard and she began to weep because she realized that she was the architect of her downfall. She was never serious with her studies, she always went to clubs and spent her family's wealth on frivolous things. Now they were bankrupt and her parents had died from shock.*
As much as I believe in destiny, I also know that unfavourable destiny can be overruled by the determination of will and choice. Even if what is written is a bad outcome, as long as I don't accept it and seek fruitful opportunities, what was written can be changed.
I am also aware that this might not be a general principle but I have a good expectation of my future and ending. I won't sit idly by and watch my life take a bad shape…………..no way.

No, just as you said, most times, we are the architects of our lives. It is based on our choices. Though God controls our lives, He has given us the will of choice, and whatever we do today will be the outcome tomorrow.
That's exactly how it is. A prophecy can come with a name tag but that doesn't mean that everyone bearing that name will fulfil the prophecy.
Jabez changed his fate by prayer, King Hezekiah changed his fate by prayer also. Only in a few cases are things left the way they are. A good example of this is our Lord Jesus. It was written that he would save humanity by dying a painful death. No amount of prayer could have changed that because it as needful.
Thank you for reading sis.

Although fate has a hand in determining an individual's existence and future outcome, the person has a choice to decide whether to accept what fate has served him or not. It's often said that we're the architect of our own lives.

You are right. If we don't work hard there is no way we can become successful in life. No one holds our destiny, we are the ones that holds our destiny in our own hand and we can work to make it better.
Yes ooo.
Thanks for reading sis👍
I agree with you on this.
We are the ones that mold our destiny.
Yes ooo.
Thanks dear
You are welcome ma'am
Truly we're the architects of our future
Just like someone who goes to church, receives a good prophecy of greatness in life but goes back, stays idle and does nothing tangibly to bring that prophecy to fruition, will God come down and force greatness on him? Hell No
We have a major role to play in shaping our destinies the way we desire.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts
With great passion and positive outlook to life always, our future is bound to be bright Plus God's grace leading us
Abi ooo. Some people are waiting on God when He has already given us the mandate and power to do great things.
