Literary game No 1...Amelia's secret.

The golden rays of the sun seeped through the window, brightening everything in its wake. Amelia stirred on the bed. The sun's ray touched her chubby cheeks ever so lightly.

Rousing from her dizziness, she checked the clock on her bedside table to discover that she was almost late for work.

”No,no…not again!” She screamed as she yanked away her blankets and dashed to the bathroom. With lightning speed, she prepared herself for work.

Amelia worked with PK Group. They were the country's leading tech company. She worked as their CEO’S secretary cum secret lover.

Amelia and Nathan had been dating secretly. She was his secretary by day and lover by night. She had all she needed because Nathan generously provided her with enough financial resources. All that she lacked was a title. They've been together for five years.

A beep sound from her phone disrupted her thoughts. She quickly checked her messages but what she saw caused a cold shiver to run down her spine.

An anonymous person just sent her pictures of Nathan making out with a woman — in his car. Staring at the pictures, her face contorted from one of shock and hurt to immense anger.

A clear indication that there was a storm coming.

She took out her laptop and began to draft her resignation letter. No one knew that she was more than just a secretary or a lover but she was also the backbone behind Nathan's success but it was time for her to leave.

Few hours later at the office...

”Where is Amelia? I haven't seen her reports on my desk as usual” Nathan was asking Liam, his personal assistant

”Boss, she is in her office. I believe the reports will be on your desk soon” Laim replied.

*”Call her to my office. I need to speak with her”

Liam went to do as told.

”Good morning Mr Nathan. You sent for me?” Amelia said with a hint of coldness to her tone.

”There's no one here with us, Amelia. You can drop the formalities” Nathan said, walking up to her but she flinched, taking two steps back. He noticed but didn't understand.

Amelia walked to his table, dropped some files and said..

”Sir, these documents require your signature before they are disbursed to the various departments”.

Nathan was perplexed. ”What is wrong with Amelia this morning?” He thought.

Shaking away the thoughts, he took his seat and began to sing without even going through the documents. Amelia smiled because he had just signed her resignation letter, granting her freedom from his company and life.

”Here, I'm done signing these documents. Now can you tell me what is wrong?”

”You seem a little different this morning”.

”Do you need some time off work?” Nathan was showing concern but Amelia was not touched.

”No sir, everything is fine. I just have a lot to do today and I would like to get it done as soon as possible”.

”Alright babe. You can go finish up with work and I'll see you tonight in my suite”.

Amelia have a lopsided smile and replied ”Yes sir”, then she left his office.

”How dare he” she thought.

She quickly tidied up her work space, taking only her personal items. She submitted her letter to the HR department and went back to clear her desk. No one knew what was going on. The company had no idea that a dirty storm was brewing,all they heard were whispers.

It wasn't until several clients called to complain about their orders having some sort of error and demanding refunds of several millions that Nathan realized something was off.

He got a shocker when he was told that Amelia had resigned and was no longer in the office.

”No way. That's not true. Amelia can't leave just like that. Find out what happened.. ASAP!” He instructed Liam who nodded in affirmation before leaving the CEO'S office.

Nathan tried calling Amelia's phone but he could not connect because she blocked him. Sitting down weary, tired and confused, Nathan recalled her pretty face, her smile and how good she was to him and then it dawned on him. He had never truly appreciated her. He got so used to having her around that he missed her qualities and now he was in a mess.

Liam came back holding a large brown envelope. He said this envelope was found in Miss Amelia's apartment but she was not there and it looked like she'd moved.

Panicking, Nathan quickly opened the envelope to reveal its contents. What he saw broke him even more.

”Oh my gosh, she knew, he whispered. I thought I was careful about my affairs”.

He put back the contents into the envelope and asked Liam about Amelia's whereabouts.

Liam didn't speak but he brought out his phone and played a video for his boss. Nathan's eyes spread wider than the Mississippi River. His shock was evident.

He just watched Amelia signing a new contract with his direct competition. He knew he was doomed. No one knew that his genius ideas all came from Amelia.

He thought things would remain the same. He never knew that his lack of self-control would cost him a priceless gem. He was doomed and he knew it.

Who knows when the storm in his heart would calm its rage?

For now he had to salvage what was left and keep his company afloat.
