Leave my brains the way they are.

Science is no doubt advancing everyday with its many advantages. The rate at which new inventions and theories spring up is so fascinating. No doubt, science has made living life a bit easier. But on another note, I think I take offense with science trying to play God in human lives, in the way they want to change creation down-side up.

Presently with science, a man can become a woman and a woman can become a man. If you are dark skinned and want to be light skinned, just call on science and that wish will be done. .This is quite outrageous but hey, it is science.

*Now if there was a chip that would be inserted into my brain which could make my brain remember things for longer and improve the memory capacity of the brain, would I be happy and willing to attempt it?

My honest answer is no. Firstly, I dread the thought of having my head (skull) opened up through surgery just so some scientists can insert a chip into my brain, all in the name of enhancing my memory retention capacity so that I will not forget things easily. No , no ,no, that is scary to me just thinking about it.

Secondly, there are things that we are better off forgetting, for our sanity and peace of mind. There are certain unfulfilled promises, hurts and traumas we passed through while growing up and journeying life. We might not forget that we had such an experience but we might forget the experience in explicit detail, which I see as a blessing of some sort.

Now with a chip implanted into my brain that would help me remember things longer, isn't that just a torture in itself?

This means that every detail of an experience will be remembered by me for a long time and perhaps, such a memory will never be forgotten. Nope, I don't want such an enhancement at all. Just leave me the way I am. I like to forget things and also remember things when I want to. No enhancements needed.

Human beings are not perfect. We remember some things and also forget some things. This is just the simple algorithm of life. Why then do we want to change the rhythm of how life works?

Come to think of it, what if during the surgery to implant the chip inside my brain,, something bad happens to me while on the operating table. Wouldn't that be a case of shooting myself in the foot? No way, I don't want that at all. I am fine and amazing just the way I am.

When my daughter was younger, she would cry whenever I wanted to go out without her. I would then squat down to her level, look her in the eye and make a promise to buy certain things for her.

Sometimes, I fulfill the promise and other times, due to work stress I would not be able to fulfill the promise I made to her in the morning. I remember that at those times, I would become a prayer warrior, praying that she forgets about the promises that I made to her myself and eight out of ten times, my prayer gets answered and she would not remember that I made her a promise.

Just imagining the fact that there is a chip which would make her remember every memory scares me. That means for every time I default in keeping my promise, then I would be in hot soup. Fellow parents, uncles and aunts to little ones can testify that being in such a position is not good at all. The child will never forget and might even brand is adults as promise breakers.

I think science should focus on how to eradicate pollution and how to sustain more energy that will not cause harm to the earth in the long run, not looking to insert chips into our innocent heads, lol.

The dangers attached to that thing is much, it's such a risky thing. I think I agree with you. Technology is going beyond making life better, it's trying to compete with God low key. Some of the inventions are going too far.

This part got me

I like to forget things and also remember things when I want to. No enhancements needed.

This is more or less the same thing I was talking about and I love how you made it fun to it and easy to understand. Forgetting makes us human, and sometimes, forgetting something is a way of protecting our mind, it's a form of protection for us too.

Exactly....who would want to remember all the 99 heartbreaks or is it breakfast that was served them. Or who would want to remember the abuse they suffered at an early age.

Forgetting some memories is a coping mechanism used by the brain to keep us same and alive.

Thanks for reading 👍

I don't think I will like the idea too, I can't even begin to imagine. Those things have a way of messing with one's brain

Are you sure we should leave it? You don't want a chip brain that will make you remember everything faster?

It won't work na. The chip was designed to help me remember, not forget or delete memory.

Is it not man made??
We will bypass that code... leave that one alone

Science that wants to alter the nature of God would fail. Even though it works but for a limited time. There's no one who could change what God has done except you want to compete with Him which is not possible.

Forgetting sometimes, might be a blessing to us because we are here today because some things are better left forgotten than revisiting them. Imagine having a chip planted in our brains, we would be greatly affected.
