Jollof rice is B.A.E ....hive naija weekly prompt #14

Hi everyone, great to be here again, trust you all are good.

So it happened that my cousin,Andrew came to visit my family here in Lagos. He was to spend only a week before zooming off back to the capital city, from whence he came.

One thing I love Andrew for is his never dull moment tactics. He was a fun guy that knew how to bring fun into everything.

Three days into his stay, he came to my room and asked me if I would play a game. I was like ok, what game are we playing and he said pop quiz drill.

"Is that even a thing Andy, where did you invent this one from?" I asked him.

"Of course it is, let me break it down for you. The game is similar to truth or dare. We will take turns to ask each other 5 questions, which the other person must answer truthfully or you lose a point". He replied.

Ok I see, let's begin the game, I know I will beat you hands down I bragged.

He did not say a word but rather brought out a coin and asked head or tail? I chose head and he was the tail. He tosses the coin and the heads have it.

I will be asking you first then now listen attentively and you have to be completely honest ok....he said to me

Yeah yeah I got it, just ask away... I replied

Ok here goes your first question (he even used his vocals for effect)

Food is life -yes food. Every living being must feed on something to survive. Say we lived in a world where one could only pick one food and that alone for the rest of their life. What food would you pick and why?

Hey that's not fair, you know I am a foodie why would you ask me a question concerning food now? I asked almost angry.

Calm down tiger, it's my game and my rules and so you have to abide by it ok, so now please answer the question (he used a spray can as a fake microphone) what the hell!

Well, not wanting to be defeated I immediately got into character, acting like I was being interviewed.My favorite meal is.....

RICE

The reason I like rice a lot is because of it's many variations.You can make coconut rice, fried rice, jollof rice, palm oil rice,you can have it as white rice with stew or sauce of any kind. Anything goes with rice......I continued

Now if I were to be specific,I would go with Jollof rice.

Ok now the second part of the question....why did you pick Jollof rice...Andrew asked

"Don't joke with me with Jollof rice o".....I began. I love to cook it's one of my favorite hobbies. Cooking Jollof rice for me can be compared to the way an artist paints with his paint brush. I derive joy from mixing up all the ingredients and spices that go into preparing Jollof rice.

Also Jollof rice is a welcomed meal anyday anytime, that's why it's usually prepared the most at parties. Let me not forget to add that Jollof rice never walks alone. It's always in the company of fried chicken, beef, goat meat, fried fish or turkey. So you see Jollof rice is B.A.E... I said.

What's B.A.E ? He asked. Well, B.A.E means Before Anything Else, silly...... I laughed at him. Then I continued the fake interview.

Also,the aroma of jollof rice can attract mixed multitude just like you Andy. He laughed at my remark.

Won't you get tired of eating Jollof rice for a year not to talk about a lifetime ?...he asked me.

No I won't, because I enjoy eating rice a lot. Why would I get tired of it. Moreover that's why there are many variables like I mentioned earlier... I responded in one breadth.

A rumbling sound was heard coming from my stomach. Andrew see what you have caused,all this talk about food is making me hungry. let's go out and get food before I faint here...I said to him

Hmm, foodie girl, the champion the conqueror of food. Let's go before you deal with me. I guess the game can continue later...He remarked.

Yes it can, my stomach is more important and you are paying for the meals. I said and ran out not wanting to see the look on his face.
