I want the soft life, but....

To be honest, I like working with my hands. I recall my teenage years when I would be upset if someone were to assist me in washing my clothes. I always felt like that person did not do a good job at washing my clothes and that would make me re-wash the same washed clothes again.

Looking back in retrospect, I realize now that I was able to do those things before because I had time on my hands. My parents provided for me. I didn't have to sweat for any form of provision at all. Thus, I had time to handle my chores the way that I liked it.

Speaking as an adult currently cumbered with a load of care, I would gladly give up doing chores to anyone and anything willing to do them for me, whether perfect or imperfect . Each day, we are given 24 hours but to me, I feel like that 24 hours is not enough. Maybe it should be 36 hours, but hey I'm no magical genie so I can't but accept the 24 hours like that.

I always have a lot to do on my plate and so any and every form of assistance is always welcome. If there's a robot that can do all my chores perfectly, then what I'm I waiting for? I would gladly get one ASAP!

Who doesn't want to live a soft life? Well I do want to live a soft life and having robots help out with attending my chores will do me some good.

Won't I become dependent on robots?

Humans are naturally dependent on the things that tend to ease our burdens. Just go through man's history and technological evolutions, you will find out that man's pursuit of innovation and inventions was all because they were dependent. We depend on food, shelter, clothes, houses, money, furniture, computers, phones and so many other things. So why would depending on robots designed to ease our burdens be criticised?

With the way the world is advancing, it won't be a surprise if robots soon became family members in every household. Already, in some Asian countries, ,robots are in charge of hotels and restaurants and so far, the customers who patronize those restaurants haven't complained.

So for me, having a robot that can do all my chores perfectly will be a huge blessing. I say this because it would afford me the time to chase other things that I didn't have time for. I could go on vacations, travel to different cities and fun places, I could also run major career programs without fear of ”What will I cook or who will take care of my house?”

Where I draw the line

Even though having a robot do all my chores would be great, I would not want a robot looking after my kids…heck no. This is because robots lack emotions needed in raising kids and I surely do not want my children to grow up being mechanical with no emotional intelligence, no no no.

Kids pick up things from the people they hang around with most of the time. So now imagine that I left my kids to be taken care of by a robot and they begin to imitate speaking like robots, that would be scary to me.

I'm laughing already as I imagine my five year old greet me ”good morning Mom” in a robotic way. It would be both scary and so hilarious. But it won't be something that I would want my kids to learn.

I'll conclude with this fact. Robots are the future. Just like phones, a time is coming when it will be wierd not to own one but personally, I won't allow a robot take charge of my parenting and family life. That's my job and ain't no robot can do it like I would, hehe.

In truths it's be awesome to have robot do all these tasks for us, we'll have enough time for other things, but then we parents should still perform our responsibility to our kids and not leave it for robots to do.

The speaking like robots part got me laughing !lol
We already have mechanical equipment that helps lessen our workload.
So, getting a robot that i will monitor(for people who fear any bad outcome) isn't a bad idea.

Very interesting read! I think I'll gladly also outsource most of the mechanical work of day to day living to robots without any hesitation or doubt. Robots were probably built foremostly for such purposes. In terms of cooking my food, I'm not so sure. Unless I'm really tired, I will always prefer to make my own food, no intermediaries :)
