Estate Auction Silver - Part 2
Part 2 Because I Promised ..
Well.. It's been a few days, 12 to be exact! .. And I have been oh so busy. Work has kept me super super busy. That is expected this time of the year, so it is what it is. I was thinking I haven't written anything in a while and that is sort of depressing. Before I went away for Easter I wrote Estate Auction Silver - Part 1 of a post about an estate sale auction I won. The auction was blind meaning I didn't know exactly what was in the listing. It ended up being a decent amount of mostly sterling silver. It wasn't a bad haul for $50.
In that post I shared about half of what I won. This second part will include the rest of the good stuff!
The Misc Stuff
I might as well start off with that photo above, the miscellaneous stuff… again, I included the 1934 peace dollar as size reference. I thought it would be a nice touch. I didn't win that coin it was already in my collection. So I'm sure the cat is the first thing that jumps out at you. It's a pretty cool cat no pun intended. They call it TAXCO Silver and it's .925 fitness or Sterling. You can look it up for yourself but Taxco Mexico silver was popular and still is. It's named after a small city in Mexico which is famous for producing some awesome Handmade silver pieces mostly jewelry. If you look it up they will most likely refer to it as the silver capital of the world. This is a vintage piece and I've seen them go for around $25-$30 apiece. Especially one size. I'm not sure I'm attached to it so I probably will end up selling it. Sorry Kitty.
In this group of miscellaneous items there a couple of rings, and FTA pin and llama. Llama is kind of cool but I have no use for it. But it is a llama. Is it even right part with a llama charm??
Next Up The Chains
I should say chains and bracelets… All of these pieces are in fine working order and need no repairs. Win-win! There are four chains and two bracelets. I guess we can start with the bracelets. The one at the bottom is a gold toned bracelet with some small black stones. It is marked .925. The other bracelet is the real winner out of the bunch. This one is a signed piece by Carl Schoen. It is a double seahorse bracelet that could fetch upwards of $300 USD. I'd say that bracelet alone paid for the $50 fee I had to pay for the auction win.
There's also that weird bird nest charm on a decent .95 chain. That sort of strange to me but I guess they make a charm for everything. The cross is cool as well as the bone style flat chain. Both in good condition. The chain is awfully heavy. It has a really nice weight to it and I ended up cleaning that one up recently.
Last Is A Beauty All Her Own ..
This is another vintage Taxco Silver piece .. It is a really neat choker that is extremely heavy. It's sterling silver with a malachite inlay. Malachite is approximately 57% copper and is why it is so green. I believe they consider it a copper carbonate hydroxide mineral. This mineral Is naturally occurring in Mexico.
I thought it would be nice to clean this piece up too .. So I got it soaking in some silver cleaning solution and gave it a firm wipe down with a soft cloth. Immediately brightened up and looked even better than it did previously.
For now this piece is going in my vintage silver collection of TAXCO silver. Have a few pieces now so it's officially a collection! Eventually I will sell the pieces, but for now they make a nice little collection.
While I was at it, I cleaned up of the butterflies as well..
That's About All ..
There was nothing more I won in that auction, but I think I made out well with what I did win. I will most likely sell off a few of the piece here soon and pay for the auction as well as purchase a few other things I have had my eye on recently. A silver bar or two maybe?!
Or maybe I wait for the spot price of Silver to dip again first!
I wish little Miss Molly was still with us. I know she would be loving these pieces too. Or maybe she would just be enjoying another snooze instead. I think that's more like it. Poor little gal.. Oh how we still miss her and her big brother every single day.

Those are some really cool pieces. I bet you could sell them for a nice profit.
I'm thinking about it. At least most of it
Haha, that's pretty funny. The peace coin was the first thing my eye was drawn to and it wasn't even part of your haul! I noticed you have been a bit absent. Life has a funny way of pulling you all over the place. We had to say goodbye to Jo last week and it has been excruciating.
Oh no! I didn't know you had to put her down. I'm so sorry for your loss. I can imagine how you guys are feeling right now, being as we have gone through it twice in the past three years. It's some pretty bad pain and I remember you saying that you weren't ready for it. I also remember you saying that you were mentally preparing yourself in one way or another that it would happen. In a weird way that actually helps or at least it helped us. Man, that really sucks. Again so sorry she was a great dog. You had a really good long life with her. I'm sure you wrote about it so I'm gonna swing over and check that out. If you need anything please let me know. Not that I'm expecting I can give you much from New Jersey, but definitely prayers and condolences coming your way.
Thanks, I appreciate it. Honestly, I don't think any amount of mental preparation could have made me ready. I fooled myself on that one.

Ooo, I like the Choker.
Can't say I'm not surprised that you like it. It's pretty cool I have another one that is similar that came with earrings. Very heavy that's for sure.
Awww... it is hard missing you little girl. I miss mine too!!!
That is a large haul, !LOL

It's definitely been a rough road. Things have gotten a little better but our hearts will always always be in pain I am sure of that.
I can't get over losing MySweetPea, StarDust, and StarFlower last year... I don't think I can have another dog... it is too painful!! They will be forever in my heart !!!
Oh I hear ya.. Hardest emotions by far we have ever gone through ☹️
I wish we had something like this auction @bdmillergallery. It must be so exciting opening up and finding treasures like these, they're all beautiful pieces.
Well done!
I really never bid on things like that, but something told me to do it this time. I didn't think I would win it.. My luck was good this time :)
