SUCCESS DEFINED: A JOURNEY THROUGH MY LENSES
Hello everyone! it's a pleasure to contribute again to this week prompt on HiveGhana Community. And today I'll be talking on my success defined.
- Success, to many people, is a destination. But to my own self, it’s a living, breathing journey, a one that definitely shifts with age, experience, and the whispers from life’s lessons.
At 10, Success Was “Becoming Big”
As a little boy Growing up in a small village, success then meant escaping poverty and obviously “making it in the city.” I always admired anyone with polished shoes and a necktie. I didn’t too well understand much about it, but I knew I wanted more, more than sand-covered slippers and meals depending on the good harvests.
At 20, Success Meant “Being a Man”
At this very stage of my life, I craved more on independence. I start wanting to make money, support my dear family, and have a voice of my own. So working as a sales boy under a business guru, and also navigating university life later, I defined success as having control over my own choices, my time, and my name.
Now in My 20s, Success Is Impact
- Experience has really sobered me. Success now means doing what really matters, not just what that pays. It’s being a true role model to my siblings, showing up for my dear students during teaching practice and online class, and weaving in both fashion and farming with dignity. It's not that loud, but it’s indeed solid. It’s in every child I mentor, every pig I do raise, and every design I create with love.
I’ve Learned that: Success Is Not Linear
There’s obviously no one-size-fits-all. Success at the age of 30 might mean owning a fashion hub or any firm of my choice. And at 40, probably being able to employ others. At 50, certainly leaving behind systems that work without me. The spotlight may somehow fade, but purpose leaves it footprints.
- What Truly Matters Now to Me:
Authenticity. Because I don’t chase noise. I chase growth that do brings peace, where my hands are working, my heart is of course steady, and my people are blessed by my existence. Titles fade. But in life who we become while chasing success? That’s what always lives on.
So no, success itself isn’t in the distance. It’s only in every intentional step forward, no matter how small it is.
