Picture A Day - Lonely during a thunderstorm.

I want to present to you a photograph taken by me during an evening thunderstorm.

You see thunderclouds illuminated by the reflections of a thousand lightning bolts on the horizon and a lone bird being chased by the storm.

I don’t know what a bird feels at such moments whether it will experience fear and hopelessness most likely it concentrates its attention not on fear but on its wings which should work faster than usual and think only about flying away from thunderstorms as far as possible.

This picture reminded me of one incident that happened to me on a fishing trip which in the early morning I went with my father.

I decided to swim closer to the middle of the lake and bring in the sinkers of two fishing tackle called rubber bands.

This tackle consisted of a sinker a thick fishing line to which a sinker was attached for casting followed by thirty meters of round rubber which turned into a hundred meters of fishing line on which leashes with hooks were attached.

The fishing line was wound on a horn which I firmly stuck into the shore of the lake.

I reeled off the required amount of fishing line and swam.

In each hand I had one lead sinker so I swam.

Having reached the middle of the lake I felt a strong cold, these were underground springs that fed the lake with water.

The next moment both legs cramped I realized that I could not move my legs and tried to scream in the hope that my father would hear me.

And my father dozed off on the shore and did not hear me.

This only led to the fact that I swallowed the lake water and was close to starting to drown.

With the last of my strength I gathered my will into a fist took a breath and dived.

I began to slowly try to pull myself to the shore with the help of fishing tackle which I held in my hands.

At that moment I did not think about Baron Mündhausen, who pulled himself out of the swamp by the hair I just did it.

Very slowly the rubber stretched to its limit and I felt that gradually I began to approach the section of the tackle where the hooks were tied.

When I touched the button which was the link between rubber and fishing line I felt more confident and after a while I felt the solid bottom of the lake under my feet and got out to the shore.

Loneliness in the middle of the sky which is torn apart by thunder that was what I felt in the middle of the waters of the lake.
