The big 'hole' in the sky

This evening a friend of mine has written to me 'have you seen the moon tonight?!'.
I got up from the chair, and from the window a brilliant moon was up in the sky!
I have seen it some brighter only in Himalaya.

I imagine the moon as an hole on the surface of an huge cloth wrapping all the sky: from the hole, you can see the light behind, from another invisible world.

No, I have done pictures this evening. There wasn't clouds, and I think moon is amazing just to watch; it's too reductive to print its light on camera. You should watch it directly with your eyes... But, I have found, random, a series of pictures taken at rising moon, some years ago, hugged by evanescent clouds.

Here the pictures!

To make moon surface visible, I used a strong underexposure:

Here before the moonrise.
Town lights and clouds had the same color:

A hole in the sky is an appropriate name for these beautiful photos of yours. I love the contrast and I love the fact that the moon shines ever so brightly.

Crazy that settings can make such a difference right? Love the shot with the snow and the moon. Moooree!

Thank you! Yes, with some post production, because of the moon surface is too much brighter than landscape

The moon in the night sky was truly amazing to me and the photography was beautiful. I look forward to seeing more such beautiful pictures.

That's a beautiful and poetic way to describe this moon, a "hole in the sky" that radiates its gentle, dazzling light.
Your photos are amazing and evoke a sense of wonder.
