Selçuk Sultan Mosque - Istanbul

Hello Dear @ArchitectureDesign Page Friends; 🐝🐝

I am here again with another architectural structure. While I was on a short tour in Istanbul, I wanted to share a post about the Selçuk Sultan Mosque, where I stopped by to perform the noon prayer, and share the images of the mosque and give you a brief history about the Selçuk Sultan Mosque.

Although this mosque is not a well-known mosque, it still hosts many visitors due to its location. I especially liked the interior decorations, which were decorated with different and vibrant colors. My desire to share was especially due to the aesthetics of its interior design.

Istanbul is a city known for its many old mosques. In fact, since the caliphate was once in the Ottoman Empire, Istanbul became the capital of Islam for this reason. Selcuk Sultan Mosque; Although its interior design was based on old mosque designs, its construction dates back to a recent date. In Fatih district, where I went for a stroll, in order to expand Millet Street, which was opened to transportation in 1956, the previous mosque was demolished and Selçuk Sultan Mosque was built in its place. Although the demolition of mosques is not a very common situation, sometimes the demolition of mosques can be approved in very necessary situations.source

Selçuk Sultan Mosque is a mosque that creates a breeze of simplicity with its beautiful and simply designed interior motifs and its land area. You saw in the first photo that the mihrab section where the imams pray has a beautiful design with dark blue and yellow colors. Additionally, the decorations on the upper parts of the windows and where the mosque dome intersects with the walls look very nice.

The carpet on the floor, the simple color of the walls, the materials used inside are not flashy but are pleasing to the eye as they are only for use, the bookcases are built-in cabinets, the pulpit has a simple style similar to classical mosque pulpits, and the shoe rack section we see when entering is very wide and plentiful. It is an extremely beautiful mosque with many simple structures like this. It was an architectural structure that I liked because it did not have too many unnecessary details.

This mosque, which is not frequently visited by travelers who happen to be in Istanbul, is one of the mosques that was built for public worship and is not intended to be visited.

Yes; Although I cannot cover it in detail, I wanted to tell you about a very simple and beautiful mosque that I tried to explain at least visually and with a brief history. I would like to thank #Hive and #Ecency platforms for providing us with the opportunity to share.

I would also like to thank the page @ArchitectureDesign, which established a sharing page in the fields of architecture and interior design.

Hope to meet you in many beautiful architectural buildings. Thanks.

Interesting information about the demolition of a mosque that gave way to this beauty, good that you were able to visit it and pray.
