Djemma Al-Fna

With great pleasure i visit Marrakech. Knowing little of the country and it's customs i followed the crowd to Djemma Al-Fna.

During the day it's nothing special. Fruit stores and various peddlers earning their daily keep.

To have pride in one's work seems to be the key to overcoming any environmental constraints. I observe the various workers, remembering they are people just as i, and i admire, i respect the pride they place in their work. Is it work when you enjoy what you do?

I often spend my evenings wandering the alleyways, attempting to feel the pulse of these streets. If only i could touch the heartbeat of this city, i will know it's past, present and future story.

I can look at historical landmarks. I can read books on this city's origins. Yes. Yet i prefer to learn my lessons from real people. There is always a teacher.

The sights, the sounds, the smells, the cadence of this wonderful central square in Marrakech. I find solace in forgetting myself amongst the crowd, seated at a table, partaking the food with the locals and exchanging road-stories with fellow travellers.
