Sketchtember monster #16: Arachnid!

I may be trying to catch up to my postings today because I get hyper focused when I draw and that I only want to draw and not write or vice versa. I find it so challenging to switch from drawing to writing a lot so you may have noticed how inconsistent my posting is again XD I'm trying though, but you know, life and all. Anyways, this time I was drawing an arachnid monster... but for the lack of creativity for today and for the speed drawing series I'm also trying to pull off, I went with the simpler route and I made a weird spider with an eyeball for a body. A security spidey, so to speak.

Duration: 2.5 hours
Materials: Black ink, blac pen, rainbow pen, white gel pen

I am still in awe with how I pulled this off. Even while I write this and I look at the spidey, I'm just shookdt because this is the dopest drawing I have made this month and I am just so proud of it!
But when I started this drawing, me and my man were actually laughing at how funny it looked.

Might be because I started off with the eyeball and iris but idk, the sketch itself looked funny to me cuz I've never drawn a spider before, much less a weird one like this.
Nevertheless, I prceeded and inked it in. I painted the legs using black ink to give ti a more branchy finish because I wanted my spider to have that creepy tim burton length even when the eyeball itself is far from a Tim Burton style XD

If you can see that kind of blotchy effect though, I loved it already at that point so it was kind of a shame that I had to fill in the small white gaps when I was detailing in the legs. idk it feels like I wasted a bit of effort, but i definitely saved myself a lot of time by taking the ink r oute cuz imaging if I had to blacken all 8 legs with a pen, I probably would have torn the paper by now XD

So this is at the 1 hour 20 minutes mark and I was pretty sure I was doing the shadows right whike I was starting to highlight the actual legs. And it felt like I was taking forever with this because I had to do 8 legs XD And I was getting sleepy again so I kind of just rushed to finish it.

After completing this, I showed it to my man then took a nap XD I swear, the cold season onset puts me in a hibernating mindset and I literally am not getting much stuff done, especially with my prompts progress,
