Mermay day 4: pin-up

It is day 4 and wow I went the whole week writing and drawing ^^ I'm proud of myself for that UwU I hope to keep that up again then maybe take a little break from framing for a day or two in june? Who knows but I am still determined to finish his in style. And speaking of style, I have never done a pin up poster before. I know I used to do Ike a lot of edgy stuff bu probably never anything worthy of being pin up poster material. And now I finally have XD

So it probably shouldn't have taken that long but I had a hard time with the pose, the hand and the blending.... basically I struggled with this one in general XD I don't do pin up girls so I never thought this prompt word was gonna be easy XD

The sketch looked pretty good to me actually. though I did do some back and forth with poses and the hair. and definitely the hands XD goodness how I hate the hands in all of these mermaid drawings, but I don't have a choice

Then I did my base color and lots and lots of tiny brish strokes just to smoothen out the blending. I think this is what took me the most time than anything, the figuring out what to do with the blending part.

Then what I find weird for me is when I dod something like this where I started the rendering on the bottom instead of the top. Because I usually work from the top. But I think my fish tail came out pretty good at least.

Then after I was satisfied with my tail, I finally worked on the body and that also took me a while because I was also doing the face a little and right now, I'm not so proud of how I draw faces. I think I do better dragon faces than human faces now XD so that kind of sucks for me. But I think I can revisit my old portraiture skills this month, and I take that as a positive for me.

The last bits I had to do was do the face, do the hair then figure out how to not make her so flat, which I think the shadow helped with, but yeah, definitely not easy to do the olden pin up model style. I think I should have gone for a more recent anime kind of thing but lol this is just me trying to be different XD

So that is my day 4. It is Sunday night for me and I dread going to work again tomorrow but I can't call in sick because then I'd be getting a call from my boss again and that is never a pretty picture.
Anyways, tomorrow I hope I cn make time to draw or at least finish what I'm gonna be starting on now.
