Mermay day 2: Seahorse

Hello guys~ And so here goes day 2 of my Mermay attempt. I think I'll try to spend the next few days really drawing cuz I blame myself for not preparing myself enough for this XD
Day 2 is Seahorse and I have honestly never drawn a Seahorse before XD

So I think I did pretty good for a first time Seahorse drawing. I'm kind of missing traditional art lately so I've been doing digi as close to traditional as possible for this prompt list then let's see after if I have the energy and patience to go back to trad. Or maybe I'll do a few trad pieces along the way because I did promise my man I'd try to do more trad with him so we can compare techniques.
Originally, I wanted to do something else for this one.

This was the original look. But at some point, while I was fixing the outline, it just kind of lost proportion and I got frustrated af. So I ended up deleting that and started over with a new concept.

And that is basically what brought me to this one. I was pretty sure I wanted to do the small Seahorse so I didn't have to Detail up that much, but that wasn't going to work for my mood today XD Also the blue background really hit me and I think I'll need to overcome my blue background problem in the duration of this entire month XD

This was the point I was building up my layers with the ink line brush and I was trying to give it a brownish kind of color but I don't think it was that evident. Seahorses are brown though?

But after much shading and a bit of highlighting, I am done! These recent drawing clearly aren't some of my best works so far but I can see myself improving in this art style. I'm hoping I can squeeze in some traditional tomorrow and maybe attempt Mermay the traditional way, but let's see. I still have a long way to go before the month ends.

All I know is day 2 is donnneeee~~ and I am definitely hoping I can keep this up
