Low lights trad practice

So I was doing a bit of traditional drawing yesterday since I like going back to my roots and I try to verify if I still have the skills or not 🤣 Cuz you know how when traditional artists shift to digital arts that they end up forgetting all those skills they grew up with then grow old with digi? I don't think I could ever abandon such a fundamental skill.

Materials: Pens and markers
Duration: 2.5 hours

So I do have a reputation for being fast with my pens, even after how long it's been since I last did trad. I do think my hand speed is just normal and I like that this got that warm orange glow I took a while to portray because i only had pastel pens for the highlights and that took me layers upon layers to build up

But for the progression, I had a marker base. I've been trying to use up my remaining markers because they're drying up and I want to make the most of them before they do. then I used a brown pen to do my sketch because I really couldn't see my pencil sketch 🤣

More sketching but I added an orange layer at some point. I have this really nice neon orange pen I use for warm glows and skin tones and I thought that would be a perfect fit here

Then I started building up my pastel pen layer here. mostly on the face and the legs and then figuring out how to execute it on the clothes.

So far, this was 3-4 layers of the pastel pen

Then my last layer of highlight was on the yellow pastel pen to add empasis on where the light hits the most.

And that's my quick sketch of last night before I worked on my splinterlands drawing ^^

This is all from me! I want to try to post in this community more regularly and hope that I can still allocate at least a drawing per week just for the sake of having a place to put my traditional art 🥰
Thank you guys for stopping by! I will see you guys next time!
