Feeling poetic

Hello hello ^^ So far I've been doing a pretty good job being active again and I am proud of that! It's the rainy season for me now and since my determination and desire to go outside dwindle by the day, I have kept myself busy by sketching and sketching and sketching since I have nothing better to do and I do not want to work overtime at work event though I basically live at work now. IDK I just want to have a work-life balance too, plus staring at more numbers for longer than necessary hurts my brain.

Materials: Rainbow pen (Brown, pink and black) and white chalk
Duration: 2 hours

" I had never met a soul who could speak my language. Until there was you. You are fluent in me."
-Lonely person

I thought the short poem really matched this sketch today and I'm also going to be putting this in the small art journal I'm making for my boyfriend. He'll need something to look back on when he has to go away for work again.

Anyways, for my progression shots:

I had a hard time building up layers this time because I started off with such a dark color from the start and I find it so strange of me to do so in a traditional sketch. Probably unless I intend to do a dark piece, but yeah, working with the shade of pink I have with me wasn't working since it was so light that it felt worse than when I do my pencil sketch.

This was an hour in, when I've more or less shaded in what should be shaded in brown. It was pretty hard working in all brown without a base layer and especially since I wasn't intending on making the sketch so dark.

Then I started adding in the pink and ti worked pretty good because it filled in the color gaps that I wished brown could fill and it added a bit more depth to it like I had hoped for. I couldn't develop a darker pink for this, but I do thin this turned out quite well for a quick sketch

Then I had to add words because I was feeling a little romantic while I was doing this sketch, and because the rain really brings out a different kind of artist in me and I like who this other artist is because she has depth to her.

Anyways, this is all from me ^^
I will be seeing you guys again soon, and hopefully I can start on the prompts I've been waning to try lately!

I do focus on it when I start 🤣 and I've always had fast hands. I don't think I've ever taken so long to draw anything
