The signs or maybe just a feeling//Loh#246.

My mama has lots of stories about these things. She talks about them a lot and tells us to always listen to the signs that come our way. While I would listen patiently and maybe try to believe a few, my sister was the opposite, she'd laugh it out and say things that would make mom feel the need to do DNA on her cos, apparently, she couldn't have given birth to such a child, lol.

Growing up, it was fun always listen to them bicker at each other, and mom gave her final speech, "Since you don't believe me, why not meet with your Google for everything?" while my sister still tries to speak about science and facts.

Beliefs in omens?

There are tons of those stories in an African home and widespread practice across various cultures and historical period.I have heard about bad omens like breaking a mirror and what would happen if something isn't done and good omen like owning a rabbit foot. I want to say I don't believe them, though I am not disputing the fact that they exist, especially being a great lover of paranormal movies and TV shows like Supernatural.

I want to say I don't believe it at all but, if I am to follow my reality, I know this world isn't just black and white and that there's so many occurrences that can't just be explained and I happened to have felt a few signs.

Although there's something about butterflies with me, whenever I see them, I know I am going to have a good day.

And that brings us to...

In this week's prompt on Ladies of Hive @amberkashif asked and interesting question;

Belief in omens exists all around the world. While some are common across cultures such as black cats or shooting stars, others feel more personal. Have you experienced something that felt just like a sign?

Like I said earlier, I have been in scenarios where something just comes to me, and I don't know if I would classify it basically as omen or just my body speaking to me. And just like Mama had said, I always try to listen.

Although, I have been in situations where I tell someone not to go through something or do something cos I feel it'll turn bad and, I won't say I am always correct but 90 percent of the time, it turns out right.

To me, these signs have saved me from embarrassments, being in trouble, and lots more. There's a sign I usually feel when I meet new people. I know I am not much of a people type, but when I meet some people, my mind just literally tells me the person is a bad person. Like... I can feel it, and I have never been wrong on that, and the sign comes in an interesting way.

Though I don't like people much, I can interact well with people who I find comfortable but whenever someone comes into the picture who my spirit doesn't align with, I completely ignore that person without even meaning to. It just feels like something came over me, and I end up being rude by not speaking to the person, and as far as i am concerned... feels like the person doesn't exist.

I have tried a few times not to do that, but I am very bad at pretending. I don't know how to act like I like someone when I don't, and my act of not pretending has really saved me a lot of times.

Also, I have been in moments where I just decided to take another road out instead of the familiar one, and it ended up saving me. I just see them as just feelings, and I don't know if that classifies as omens, but if they do, then that's a little bit of my omen-y self.

That “something” you are talking about has really saved a lot of people including myself. And there are times you just don’t listen and in the moment, you’re going through a lot.

Yeah,as long as you hail from Africa, you should have heard one or two omens either good or bad.

The feelings for meeting someone for the first time happens to me too. I'll just ignore the person and isolate my emotions in that space. It's not on purpose but it's because I can deeply feel that the person is dubious.

Being accurate with certain presentiments without ever being wrong, is very valuable, they are certainly signs to which it is always important to pay attention, thank you for sharing your experiences,

I think the electromagnetic waves and aura from the people gives us vibes, so we may detect whether they align with us or not.

Your gut feelings seem to be pretty strong so they guide your way.

Yes, they do but oftentimes, we tend to shake them off and they end up biting us in the ass.
