The Other.

Her insides gnawed repeatedly; it felt like her spine was at stake. The thoughts at the back of her mind disappeared like a soul gone from a boneless body.

"Why did you do that?" Linda asked with a straight face, conquering every ounce of fear rising from her heart.

The other looked back at her with bloodshot eyes and mouth shut tight like a bottle cap.

"Speak." Linda repeated as if in a whisper but with a slight show of authority.

As usual, the other kept mute like a sheep lost to its shepherd words.

Sighing deeply, Linda crossed her left arm on her stomach with her long slender legs crossed as well as she sat on the bed. She focused her gaze on the other person like she was staring at a statue.

Grazing her teeth on her inner cheek, Linda played around with her fingers like a child learning numerals in the olden days.

With eyes now focused on her hands, she spoke, "You've been very quiet. I need to know why you did what you did." Linda spoke, raising her face up to meet the eyes that stared right back at her.

Still, silence reigned.

"Are you going to act like nothing happened? There's blood on the floor." Linda added, refusing to look at the soulless human with eyes flashing white on the floor beside her.

"Wh...why! Why did you do it?" Linda half screamed silently, gritting her teeth together.

Closing her eyes deeply, Linda let out a huge sigh before standing up. With legs pacing back and forth, she came back to bed and took her initial position again.

"You have to talk to me. I can't help you if you don't." Linda spoke convincingly.

*"Hahaha," the other laughed out loud with a stingy voice.

"Help?" The other replied after a long time of silence.

"Help?" the other repeated again with a smirk. "I don't need help, but you sure do need it." The other added.

"What do you mean..."

"You sure know exactly what I mean. Don't act like you didn't enjoy bashing his skull with the bottle of wine." The other spoke, cutting Linda off.

"Bu... but... but I didn't do it. I, I would never hurt... I... I didn't ... no! I didn't do it." Linda replied.

"No... no... I didn't. ... I didn't..." The other said mockingly with a huge laugh.

"Yes, you did. If you didn't, then why is there blood on your face and your clothes as well." The other questioned.

Staring at her mini black gown, Linda gasped at the blood stain on her. "No. You did it. His blood is on your hands. It was you who..."

...and who am I?" The other questioned, cutting off Linda's question again.

Laughing hysterically, the other stared back at Linda.

"I am going to ask again. Who am I?"

"You can't answer. Can you? Why? Is it because I am you? Your reflection. I am the other you, and no matter what you say or how you intend to put it, you can't change the person you see in the mirror each day." The other added.

Furrowing her eyebrows, Linda touched the mirror in front of the bed with shaky hands.

"You see... I don't bite." The other jokes.

"No... I didn't do it. You.. who... you..."

"Just stop stammering already. This is who you are, Linda. This is the reason you were brought into this world. Your sole purpose is to find and kill those who kill others in the manner they killed their victims." The other replied.

"No. No... no, I...why me?" Linda asked.

"That's because you are dead. The people who killed you are alive, and your wish was to come back to earth for revenge. But the people up in the sky gave you a clause, which is the purpose I explained a while ago. This is your first job, and it is a dream. This is just a test." The other replied.

"A test to what?" Linda asked.

"A test to know how you would prefer to pass on revenge on the people who deserve it. Would you rather kill them with blood on your hands or kill them slowly from within by leading them to kill themselves? As long as they suffer like their victims did, you are good to go." The other replied.

"Oh, you have been given a new identity. Now, wake up to access the information you need and study the list of evil doers on earth." The other added with a smile.
