Pollution and celebration- A controversial discussion

Diwali is the festival of light in many places but in many places it is a festival of Crackers and fireworks. Though this has considerably reduced in the last decade, there are still people who spend a lot of money in buying crackers and celebrating Diwali with Fireworks. When Diwali comes to our mind, crackers is the most important thing. These days government has imposed some strict rules and guidelines for bursting crackers but in spite of that there are many people who enjoy bursting crackers throughout the day.

It has always been a controversial topic to discuss whether crackers are good or bad for the environment. People say that the sound of crackers help in getting rid of bad forces around us. This belief is very strong among many people. That's one of the primary reasons why people spend a lot of money in buying crackers and bursting them during Diwali. In other parts of the country, people light a lot of lamps and different types of lamps for the same reason where they want the dark forces to go away.

Pollution and celebration

In order to celebrate we burst crackers but it creates a lot of pollution. In just one day we will be able to see a lot of smoke and it will be very difficult to travel in the roads. We will be able to see many people wearing masks while travelling. Kids are also affected because of this because they easily get health issues because of pollution. Celebration is important but I'm not sure if we have to celebrate by polluting the environment or not. Not just for Diwali but people burst crackers for other festivals too.

There is another perspective to this. The life of many people are dependent on this where people will have to feed their family and there are places in Tamil Nadu where they work in crackers production. It takes a lot of manual efforts and life of many people depend on this. This is another perspective for us to see if this is required or not. Overall I would say that too much of anything is not good and at the same time we should not lose our tradition too by thinking too much. There has to be a middle ground somewhere.

They are starting to disallow fireworks here too for celebrations switching to light spectacles! I don't know, fireworks are just so nice, nothing can compete with them
