PM is visiting Tamil Nadu on for GKC temple festival
Our Indian Prime Minister has visited Tamil Nadu several times in the past but this time it is very special because he is visiting one of the greatest archeological site in India which is Gangai Konda Cholapuram, shortly known as GKC. Gangai Konda Cholapuram was the capital of Chola dynasity for over 200 years. King Rajendra Chola who was the son of Raja Raja Chola had conquired almost all the parts of South Asia and had it under his control during his reign. He went till Ganges in the North and his kingdom extended till there. It was all under the control by keeping Gangai Konda Cholapuram as its head quarters.
Today we have a gaint temple called the temple of Lord Brahadeeswara which was build after he conquired till Ganges and that's why the name of the place was also called Gangai Konda Cholapuram which means the Kingdom that conquired Ganges. The king himself was called Gangai Kondaan which means the one who held Ganges. We can keep telling the greatness of Gangai Konda Cholapuram and the Chola dynasity because there are so many things to say.
The occasion
The reason why Our Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting is because it has been 1000 years since Rajendra Chola and his birth star is celebrated on Sunday there. PM is attending this great temple festival and feel the greatness of this place. It is also the 1000 years since the start of this temple construction. During the Tamil Aadi month, Thiruvadhirai is the star in which King Rajendra Chola was born and he was the one who built this great temple that still stands in spite of several invasions after his time.
There has been some great festivals planned considering his visit and there is a high chance that lots of local people would be visiting the temple and surrounding places to see the Prime Minister.
My close connect with the temple
It is likely that I might be visiting Gangai Konda cholapuram on this day. I don't know what will be the plan but I have a close connect with temple and one of the activities that happen in the temple during the Aipasi month of every year. To represent that event, a few of our team members would be visiting the temple. We don't know if we will be able to participate in the events but there is a chance that it might happen.
The only thing that I'm glad about is the fact that the government is very supportive of the cultural zones and cultural events that happen in this country and in some of the cultural events the Prime Minister himself participates. The support is happening from both central as well as the State Government.

These types of places are places that should actually be preserved because it goes a long way to change a whole lot of things
