Not necessary to keep everything on cloud
Not everyone understands cloud computing, and these technical terminologies are not for common people. But it is good to understand these things and embrace these technologies. Cloud computing is getting very popular, and many people think that they should mandatorily move to the cloud. But I think that is not the case, and not all projects need to be in the cloud. There are both advantages and disadvantages to keeping a project hosted on the cloud. A simple example would be not having the cloud as the only option to have our photos stored. A personal NAS can be a good option too. In this article, we are going to see different cloud solutions and non-cloud solutions. Just a perspective on safe storage.
Personal cloud
The personal cloud is a concept that is gaining popularity these days. There are many things associated with the personal cloud. Many new start-up companies are trying to give this, but for some reason, they are not very successful at this. But I'm sure this concept can be a successful one in the future, and if this becomes successful, all our needs will be in the cloud, and we can have our personal space in the cloud.
Personal files on local NAS
Local NAS is a good option for keeping personal files. For people who have sensitive data, encryption might be necessary. Making the NAS available on the cloud is another thing that is possible with some software and configurations. This is one way of keeping it local but making it available in the cloud. This also means that we have full control over our data.
Non-cloud solutions can be cost-effective
This is one of the primary reasons why people prefer using non-cloud solutions. I have been thinking about a non-cloud solution too. I want to keep my photos and files safe, and keeping them in the cloud is not reliable. The best way is to keep it in our drives and make it available on the internet with the right network configuration. This will also be a long-term cost cost-effective solution compared to the subscription amount we are paying right now.

Most of my files are stored in my drives, I have been using it for awhile, I find it more reliable
Saving files on cloud sounds good but the fact that it is not transferable except to another cloud space doesn’t sit well with me. Or is it possible to transfer data from clouds to other storage systems?
Like you said, I’m part of those who have very little idea of what cloud computing is, lol.
I would never keep personal photos on cloud, everyone can break some security and get them, better local storage with multiple discs

Exactly, not every project or file needs to be on the cloud. Choosing between cloud and local solutions depends on personal needs, security, and cost.
I personally I prefer to always store my files on drives because it actually keeps it much more secured
While cloud computing offers convenience and scalability, understanding the pros and cons of both cloud and non-cloud solutions helps us make informed choices tailored to our needs and security concerns.
