What did you hear about confidence? Well, I heard that when a mad man, that is someone who is really mentally deranged is confident with what he is saying, that mentally stable people will believe him.

The thing there is not that what he is saying is correct, it is that he is confident about it and when there is confidence, a lot can happen.

I have always heard that even if you are confident talking rubbish, that people will believe you. I had always known this but I haven’t really seen it first hand in a cooperate world for me until sometime last week.

I had gone for a function, an education function and when we were done, I was relaxing with my friend at the pool side and then one of the staff of the hotel were we were came to us to ask us how we would rate their hotel. I told him that I had only finished from the event and was sitting by the pool side and hadn’t gone round the environment.

He said that we are free to look around. It was a five start hotel and he said that we should go to the restaurant where some persons where having a buffet lunch going on as he was speaking to us and we can be free to ask for the room rates and even insist that we be taken up to see the rooms. Then he made a striking statement.

He said when you go to make the inquiry, speak with “CONFIDENCE “, emphasis on confidence. He said if we talked like we are scared, then they would look down on us but if we talked boldly and confidently, that they would answer us.

Well, the people who was sitting by me didn’t have time for such adventure but I did cos I was kinda bored and wanted to do something cool. Well, thank goodness that I was well dressed.

So I took the bold step and told my friend that I went with that I want to go make enquiries about the hotel. She thought I was joking but I wasn’t. So I strode boldly to the restaurant and saw so many people having lunch. Some came with their families while some came alone. Each person is paying #35,000 for the lunch which is $23.33 at Naira exchange rate of 1500.

Well, I asked for the person Incharge and the manager was called. I asked him what it would take to host twenty people to a buffet in a more secluded environment and not the open restaurant and they told me. I was so confident that he referrred me to his boss who took me to show me a special hall for the buffet that can be used.

The hall price that can sit twenty people is #480,000 Naira, that is $320 dollars. From there he took me to check for the room rates and this was the room prices cos I had to take a snap of it. After confidently making all the inquires, I found out that to host a dinner for twenty person for a night in this hotel and to sleep over there would cost over #7,000,000 million naira approximately 8million if we are to use the cheapest room, that is about $5300 dollars. At the end the manger excitedly gave me his number and even commended me that I was looking good. Well, looking good is good business. How else would you proof that.

Well, how else would I have pulled off such an enquiry without confidence. They saw me as one rich lady that’s coming to do business with them and ofcourse I am. Sometimes it’s all about your confidence. In all your getting, get confidence.
