Popular statements I don’t agree with; What a man can do, a woman can do better

The world is ever changing and evolving and there are alot of statements over the years that have become popular and due to their popularity, people have come to accept them and live with them and these statements in a way have come to shape the way people behave or live their lives.

That these statements are popular doesn’t mean that they are true. I don’t believe in some of them for example:

What a man can do, a woman can do better

Okay before you attack me listen first. Am not a feminist and I believe in the place of men and women in the society and family. Many women say this a lot to buttress on equality between men and women.

I am coming from the stand point of strength and feminity. Men are more masculine and have strength more than women and because of that, there are somethings that they can do that even if the woman dares to do it, it won’t be an easy task for her.

Well, a lot of women are manning up and taking some kind of jobs but even at that, the difference is still clear. Me am just saying my point of reasoning. Please what a man can do, give it to the man and don’t bring it my way. There are some things I can do and there are some I will gladly ask a man to help me with.

Don’t come and stress my life and give me difficult tasks to do all in the name of what a man can do, a woman can do better. I can’t do it better. Please give it to the man. Am a female. Hahaha.

The woman place is in the kitchen and the other room.

Growing up, we were meant to believe that there’s nothing much to the girl child because their place is in the kitchen and other room. The women have been limited in the society so much that most of them do not have the passion to push for their purpose or passion in life.

When you try to push so much they will tell you that you will end up in a man’s house cooking and giving birth to children so why push so much. Or that you should wait till you get married so that your husband will determine the extent he wants you to go.

One of the junior colleges I know back in our school days had to run away from home because her father refused her to further her education. He didn’t believe in training girls. She was the only girl but the father told her to come back home and get married that women don’t go to school.

She had to run away from home and luckily for her one of our senior colleagues heard her story, took pity on her, accommodated her and trained her in school. Today she’s a graduate and working. She’s married but she’s doing well for herself pursuing her carrier and still a wife and a mother.

Times have changed and the society is evolving as women are doing great things for themselves and accomplishing feats in the family, society and nations at large. No woman should be limited with that saying that women belongs to the kitchen and the other room. Every woman should be free to do what’s best for themselves.

Men don’t cry

Another popular saying I don’t believe in is that men don’t cry. Whenever I hear this saying, I would always ask why? Are they not human beings.

Don’t get me wrong. I know men are strong creatures and are not as emotional as women but who says they don’t cry. Infact I feel the amount of pent up emotions in men’s lives could be the reason why they often die young and faster.

They are carrying a lot on their shoulder, yet an unwritten law does not allow them to be human. To release pent up emotions. Don’t you know that crying is one of the ways to relieve emotional stress?

What kills faster than emotional stress? These men are dying inside and yet they keep trying to be strong and bottle up all those feelings inside and continue to die.

Please whether you are a man or not, cry. If you see yourself in a position where you need to free up some emotions and relieve your self of emotional stress, cry. Cry like a river. It’s good for the soul. For man and woman alike. Even Jesus in the Bible cried when he lost a friend. He didn’t just cry, he wept. And it wasn’t the only time he cried. On the cross, he cried with a loud voice.

Men please cry. I don’t know who wrote that law for you guys not to cry, but it shouldn’t be so. If you see yourself in a situation to cry and you want to please go ahead and cry unless you just don’t want to. But don’t let yourself be held back from expressing your emotions because of some popular saying that we don’t even know who said it. Hahahaha.
