My first love story #225
Times have come and gone and the years have rolled by and here I am recounting this moment of the first time I said I love you to someone not family.
I was in high school. A young and naive girl in her junior secondary class two or what is called JSS2. There was this boy that actually liked me. I noticed he was always coming to ask me questions after classes and asked me to teach him some things he didn’t understand in class.
I was amongst the best students in the class and was intelligent. I saw it as an honor that a class mate would humble himself to ask me to teach him. I took up the challenge and that was how our love story unfolded.
We would learn together and read together. Until he finally told me his feelings towards me. I was already liking him and I always wanted to be around him. Our friendship was beautiful and we were inseparable.
We were in a relationship till we finished high school. Well, one of those days he said he loved me and I replied with “I love you too”. That was my first time of saying I love you to someone not family.
Our relationship blossomed into sometime beautiful. We would visit each other after school. We both lived in a boarding house and we see each other everyday in class and spend time after class. When school is on vacation, we continued our love until one day everything changed.
I went to his home after school to visit him one day and I met his Aunty whom I later found out was actually his mum. But he calls her Aunty so I assumed she was his Aunty.
For reasons I can’t place my hands on, the Aunty didn’t like me. She was always antagonistic towards me. But he told me not to mind her that that’s how she’s towards female friends around him.
One of those days, I came to visit him but he wasn’t around. Those days phones were not in vogue yet. We used land lines to communicate and reaching someone was always difficult unless you visit them.
I got to the house and met the Aunty who attacked me with words and said all manner of things to me. She threw me out of their house and so I had to wait for my boy friend at a corner of the street.
I told him about my ordeal with his Aunty. He wasn’t happy and talked to her but she was adamant. It was later he revealed to me that he was going to get married soon and the Aunty who is the mum wanted him to marry someone else and not me. He was the only child and they wanted him to get married early to preserve the family lineage.
After all that incident. Our relationship began to deteriorate and soonest he left for college and I was yet to get admission into the university. We grew apart and that was how our beautiful love story ended.
Love languages are simply how we want love to be expressed to us and most times we tend to express love to others through our love language. My primary love language is gifts. I noticed that when I love, I give easily. I don’t struggle to give to my loved one. I feel very loved and special when someone gives to me. Especially when they give me the right gift I need.
I love surprises but I’d prefer you gift me what I need by asking than surprising me with what I don’t need. I love gifts alot and would appreciate even the littlest of the gifts cos that’s my primary love language.
My second love language is words of affirmation. I love to be appreciated for the little things I do and also love to be admired through words. I want to known that am loved and cherished and what better way to do that than through gifts and words.
Well I hope you enjoyed my first love story and my love language reveal. Thank you for reading through. Your thoughts on these are welcomed.

Thank you for sharing such a poignant and heartfelt story, @babygirl888 . It's truly touching to hear about the journey you had with your first love. The connection and bond you both shared during your high school years must have been incredibly special. It's evident that your relationship was built on mutual respect, admiration, and support.
It's unfortunate that external circumstances and family pressures came between you both. The challenges you faced, especially with his aunt, must have been difficult to navigate. Despite the eventual end of your relationship, it's clear that you have cherished memories and valuable experiences from that time.
Love, in all its forms, can be complex and sometimes bittersweet. Your story highlights the beauty of young love and the impact it can have on our lives, even if it doesn't last forever. It's a reminder of the importance of treasuring the moments we share with those we care about.
Thank you again for sharing such a personal and moving story. 💕✨

A sweet story but in the end it wasn't meant to be. You would have to live under difficult circumstances and bad feelings with him not able to let go his mother's apron strings.
Thank you @babygirl888 ❤️
