Movie review; Lucy Shimmers and the Prince of Peace

I saw this beautiful movie yesterday and the ending part of it bought tears to my face and it’s a must see.

This is a beautiful story about a beautiful family of the Shimmers who had a special and unique little daughter named Lucy. The movie started with Lucy and the dad playing in their compound and then Lucy turned and saw the grandpa and waved at him.

The dad asked her who she was waving to and she said it’s her grandpa. Grandpa is late he said but Lucy told the dad that grandpa was standing right there at the fence.

While they were playing she started coughing and the dad took her inside and the next day she was running temperature and was taking to the hospital.

At the hospital, the grandpa kept visiting her but he wasn’t seen by the son and the wife. At the same time a sick prisoner was brought in to the hospital whose kidney was failing.

Jesus had appeared to Lucy and told her of a sad man that needed help and when Lucy saw the man in the hospital, she recognized him and she had drawn a picture of the man on her book and his name is Edgar.

Edgar was a convict who was estranged from his family and was going to die if he didn’t get a donor to give him a kidney. The pastor visited him at the hospital and encouraged him to read the Bible and give Jesus a chance but he said he didn’t believe in Jesus.

Lucy’s health deteriorated and the family was always there to support her. In the night, her grandpa would appear to her and take her round the hospital and she would go to visit Edgar after sneaking past the police guard through the distraction the grandpa created.

She got close to Edgar and told him about Jesus and asked him to read the Bible to her and that was how Edgar began to read about God again. Him and Lucy became bests of friends and Lucy got to know about his condition.

Lucy one day told her father that she wants to donate her kidney for Edgar. The doctor said it was possible that a child’s kidney can be used for an adult and it has been done severally. It was her Christmas gift to Edgar. She also met other people in the hospital and gave them gifts of pictures and told them that Jesus loves them.

She would always say “Hi, my name is Lucy Shimmers and I am five years old”. She was a contagious lively, beautiful and a special soul. After Christmas her condition has deteriorated and she passed on.

Her dad saw her spirit living the hospital with her grandpa. He cried so much and begged her not to go but she waved him goodbye. It was at this point I cried so much. It was such an emotional time. It didn’t feel like a movie anymore.

I cried and cried. Well Edgar got his gift of a kidney and got a second chance. He turned a new leaf and never looked back and he was reunited back to his family. Lucy’s organs were preserved and used to save other lives.

Well, as for her family, they gave birth to son; James junior. He was loved by his family and the memory of Lucy lives for ever in their hearts and for Edgar and family too.

This beautiful story told of the love of God. It told of how we may not have everything we want but we would get what we need because God cares for us. The movie is a perfect blend of love and professionalism. The actors were very good to the core and they killed their roles.
