Looking good is good business

My Roomate once told me that looking good is good business. That was the first time I heard that. One day she was dressing up and I commended her on how good she was looking and instead of saying the regular thank you, she said looking good is good business. Hahahaha. She can be alot to handle though.

Well, since then it has stuck with me. Looking good is indeed good business and I totally agree. Once in a while we’ve heard the saying “dress the way you want people to address you”. That’s really something so true.

I told you guys in my previous post of how I pulled out an enquiry that was an art of confidence but confidence wasn’t the only factor. I was well dressed too. If I was dressed shabbily with all the confidence, am sure they would be looking at me somehow but alas, I was dressed to the task.

The real estate company I attended their training was telling us that in the industry, dressing well is not an option. In their own world it’s called packaging. They said we should dress to kill anything we are going to talk to a client. Most clients would first of all look at how you are dressed when you approach them to market your company. You can’t obviously be dressing like a peasant and be telling someone to come and buy a landed property worth millions.

One of the guys who worked in our company told a story of how he went to prospect to someone. He was well dressed to start and after all his talking, the man told him that he would get back to him and he left. The man later called him back that night and told him that he had made up his mind to invest with his company then he made a remark and said that when the man turned to go, he had to look out of his window to see the type of car the man came with.

That it was after seeing the car that he concluded that he was going to do business with him. He came with a Prado jeep. The Uber guy that brought him came with a prado jeep and he told the guy to wait for him that he would pay for his time and the guy did and waited. After their prospecting, they entered the car and left and that was when the man saw him leaving.

The question was, what if the Uber man didn’t come with a good looking car? What if he hadn’t waited or what if the man wasn’t well dressed. The whole conclusion is that men look at the outward appearance. It’s only God that looks at the heart. Hence in all your getting, get a good dress sense and also learn to dress well for how you dress, is how you will be addressed.

When you see someone scantily dressed, what comes to your mind? When you see someone shabbily dressed what comes to your mind and when you see someone well dressed, what comes to your mind?

We will always be addressed how we are dressed, knowing this would help us to know how to dress for each occasion we find ourselves in. Looking good is good business indeed. Always look good.
