I remember this day and am both happy and sad at the same time. Happy because it’s the new day of a new month and sad because I always foget it’s April fools day and I have to be careful not to fall victim of April fools day but somehow by a mechanism I don’t understand, I always fall victim.
Maybe because am not used to pranking others about it hence am not keen to watch my back. Like every other April 1st, this one I also fell victim of a foolish prank.
I wanted to cry but at the same time I couldn’t help but laugh. It wasn’t funny though. I thought I had escaped being pranked until late in the night towards 12 midnight I was online browsing when a saw a pop up from the top of my phone.
It was a message on one of the Whatsap groups I belonged to. The message said “first person to drop account number”. I moved by the speed of a flash of light and I was on the group by 12am typing away in anticipation for a miracle.
Ahhh, I felt God had remembered me. Please don’t laugh. This is pretty because as of that night, I had no dime on me. I was very rich if you understand what I mean.
So imagine that kind of notification. No matter how little the amount was, it would have done something for me. Long story short, I needed money and I felt, finally my answer is here. Hahahah.
Well, When the alert notice dropped on the group, I clicked on it and it wrote April fool. I don’t know if I should cry or laugh. I felt like I should reach through my phone and drag this user by the neck and strangle him a little.
Just a little till he learns to not joke with me like that by 12am when everyone is asleep. Hahaha. Even as am writing this, am still angry 😂😂😂.

My mother's bday is on Dec 28, which in Ecuador is also called "The day of the innocents" - Don't ask my why the April fool here is Dec 28, but that is how it works.
I remember somebody giving my mom an apple for her bday that was injected with soap.
In that regard pranks have gotten milder over the years.
