Monomad Challenge-Preserving the Rapa'ie Cultural Tradition
Hello hiver
Hello everyone, how are you
I'm back with a black and white photo of me that you might like and this is my entry
In this photo shoot, I visited a village called Gampong Alue Dua, Muara Dua District, Lhokseumawe City, to witness the community's enthusiasm for preserving the rapa'ie culture.
Under a tent with makeshift lights, hundreds of residents gathered in a circle around the field. They weren't just watching, but also connecting with the rhythm of a tradition deeply rooted in their hearts.
The Rapai Geleng, a percussion instrument, is a symbol of unity and spirituality, a source of pride for the Acehnese people. The rapa'ie's energetic beats, from young to old, were evident as the players, from the young to the elderly, diligently played the instruments, jolting the village.
They bobbed their heads, chanting religious verses, and simultaneously clapped their hands. Several others performed, cheering along with the cheers of the audience, creating a magical atmosphere.
This is a routine exercise held by the community as a form of preserving cultural heritage which is increasingly being eroded by time.
