Among the Mud, They Keep Moving

That morning in Aceh,I no longer found the silence one might expect after floods and landslides struck Sumatra. Instead,I saw the remnants of disaster that left deep and lasting scars.Fallen logs lay scattered everywhere, the ground had turned to mud, and roads that were once paved now felt unfamiliar. In the midst of this devastated landscape, displaced families moved slowly, carrying whatever they had left.

Along the road by Lake Laut Tawar,a mother carried her child, wading through standing water and piles of logs, wearing only thin sandals and a look of deep exhaustion. From one of the nearby hills,a barefoot child walked on,shouldering a sack of food, appearing to grow into adulthood far sooner than time should allow. There were no complaints only silence filled with meaning, speaking of a home that was lost and a tomorrow that remained uncertain.

Yet behind the debris and the mud,I witnessed resilience.Togetherness began to grow inside temporary shelters, and small smiles quietly appeared. This story is not only about disaster, but about people who choose to endure,to keep moving, and to hold on to hope amid the ruins.

Greetings, it saddens me to see the consequences of the floods. How sad! At least I'm comforted to see how you explain that despite this tragedy, human solidarity and resilience are also evident. I hope everything is resolved soon. Hugs
