Working Visit to Yogyakarta, Wali Nanggroe Explores Establishment of Dirgantara Museum in Aceh |
Wali Nanggroe Aceh His Excellency Tgk. Malik Mahmud Al Haythar conducted a working visit to the Dirgantara Mandala TNI AU Central Museum in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, on Thursday, June 26, 2025.
Head of Cooperation and Public Relations of Wali Nanggroe Zulfikar Idris said that during the visit, Wali Nanggroe conveyed plans to establish a Dirgantara Museum in Aceh, as a form of effort to preserve history and education for the younger generation in Tanah Rencong.
The visit was welcomed directly by the Head of Conservation of the Dirgantara Museum, Letkol Sus Rejiyati, S.IP., and attended by the Special Staff of Wali Nanggroe, Dr. M. Rafiq, and Katibul Wali, Abdullah Hasbullah.
Wali Nanggroe expressed his interest in the museum's very complete collection, ranging from World War II aircraft to modern fighter planes.
He also recalled his childhood experience in Singapore, when he saw a Japanese Zero Fighter aircraft hidden near his house.
These memories strengthened his commitment to present an aerospace education space in Aceh.
"With a museum like this in Aceh, our children don't have to go all the way to Java to see and learn about aerospace history. This is important for character building and the insight of the younger generation," said Wali Nanggroe.
This visit to the Mandala Aerospace Museum is the first step to reviving the plan. He also expressed his hope that the Indonesian Air Force can support and help realize this museum in Aceh.
Wali Nanggroe emphasized that Aceh has an important record in the history of national aviation and needs to be re-elevated as part of the region's scientific identity.
In the near future, he will discuss further with the Aceh Government regarding strategic cooperation with aerospace institutions to realize the plan.
"With the spirit of reviving history and building access to knowledge for the younger generation, the establishment of the Dirgantara Museum in Aceh is expected to be a new symbol of educational progress and the preservation of technological culture in Aceh," said Wali Nanggroe.[]
