Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh, Indonesia, turned 23 years old on Thursday, April 10, 2025. Like humans, Aceh Tamiang is starting to grow up. This can be interpreted as a transition period after leaving adolescence and starting to enter adulthood.
Aceh Tamiang Regency has passed the initial formation period. The character of Aceh Tamiang should be increasingly clear and ready to enter a new phase to become an adult, energetic, persistent, and visionary figure. Aceh Tamiang is entering a phase of consolidation and strengthening governance.
The moment of Aceh Tamiang's 23rd anniversary is more meaningful because it is under the leadership of the new regent and deputy regent as a result of the regional head election, at the end of 2024. Although the pair Armia Pahmi and Ismail did not have opponents in the last regional election, their presence was also the result of the people's choice considering that there was a regional head candidate who lost even though he was running against an empty box.
Aceh Tamiang Regency was born based on Law Number 4 of 2002. This regulation not only midwives Aceh Tamiang, but also its siblings, namely Southwest Aceh Regency, Gayo Lues Regency, Nagan Raya Regency, and Aceh Jaya Regency. This vision and mission are not just to fulfill the requirements to run for office.
The vision and mission are dreams and blueprints built by candidate pairs. It has value even though not many voters use the vision and mission as considerations in choosing regional head candidates.
There is one crucial question for the government and people of Aceh Tamiang. Where is Aceh Tamiang's current position and what has been prepared to realize a shared dream, at least approaching the vision and mission of Aulia Pahmi and Ismail.
If welfare is the measure, then Aceh Tamiang is still far from the mark. The poverty rate in Aceh Tamiang until March 2024 reached 12.17 percent, far from the national average, which is 8.57 percent based on the Central Statistics Agency report. This means that the government and people of Aceh Tamiang must work hard and work smart to reduce poverty.
Another problem is the infrastructure in various sectors that do not meet standards. And infrastructure improvements are included in the vision and mission of the Auliah Pahmi - Ismail pair to increase competitiveness and support the regional investment climate.
