Registration Closes, Here Are the Five Prospective Candidates for Rector of Teuku Umar University 2026–2030
The Rector Selection Committee for Teuku Umar University, Aceh (Indonesia) for the 2026–2030 term officially announced that the registration for Prospective Candidates for Rector of Teuku Umar University has closed on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. Five prospective candidates have registered to succeed Prof. Dr. Ishak Hasan, M.Si.
The registration process had previously been open since February 18, 2026, as part of the selection process for university leadership candidates for the 2026–2030 term.
Of the five prospective candidates, three are from Syiah Kuala University, while the other two are from Malikussaleh University.
Based on the results of the registration documents, five prospective candidates have registered with the Rector Selection Committee:
- Dr. Ir. Irwansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPM (Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering, Syiah Kuala University)
- Prof. Dr. Nyak Amir, S.Pd., M.Pd (Professor, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Syiah Kuala University)
- Prof. Dr. Ir. Dahlan Abdullah, S.T., M.Kom., IPU, ASEAN Eng (Professor, Faculty of Engineering, Malikussaleh University)
- Dr. Hilmi, S.E., M.Sc., Ak (Lecturer, Faculty of Economics and Business, Malikussaleh University)
- Prof. Dr. Iskandar AS., S.Pd., M.App.Ling. (Professor, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Syiah Kuala University)
Next, the Rector Selection Committee will carry out the administrative file verification stage for all registered candidates. The verification process is scheduled to take place on March 5–6, 2026, to ensure that all submitted administrative requirements meet applicable regulations.
This administrative verification process is based on the provisions stipulated in the Regulation of the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education Number 19 of 2017 concerning the Appointment and Dismissal of State University Leaders, as well as Teuku Umar University Senate Regulation Number 1 of 2026 concerning the Procedures for Selecting the Rector of Teuku Umar University for the 2026–2030 Period.
In his statement, the Chair of the Teuku Umar University Rector Selection Committee, Dr. T. Alamsyah, explained that the results of the administrative selection will then be submitted to the Teuku Umar University Senate to determine the prospective permanent rector candidates who meet all the requirements as stipulated in the applicable regulations. This determination is scheduled to be made through a Teuku Umar University Senate Meeting on March 9, 2026.
The Teuku Umar University Rector Selection Committee for the 2026–2030 Period consists of Dr. T. Alamsyah, SKM, MPH (chair); Dr. Eza Aulia, SH, MH (secretary and member); and Dr. Ir. Fitriadi, ST, MT, IPM as members.
T. Alamsyah expressed his hope that all stages of the rector election process for Teuku Umar University for the 2026–2030 period would be carried out transparently, objectively, and accountably, and based on applicable laws and regulations.
He added that by implementing this orderly and professional process, it is hoped that this election will produce a leader with integrity, leadership capacity, and strategic vision, capable of leading Teuku Umar University toward institutional progress, improving educational quality, strengthening research and community service, and enhancing competitiveness at the national and international levels.[]
