Following the receding floodwaters in several provinces in Sumatra (Indonesia), such as in the capital of North Aceh Regency, Lhoksukon City, banking cash transaction services remain paralyzed. Since the floodwaters receded on Monday morning (December 1, 2025), public transportation has become accessible, although access remains limited in some locations.

To meet consumption needs after being isolated for several days, residents have begun searching for basic food supplies, fuel, gas, and communication facilities. However, residents are still experiencing difficulties making cash transactions due to the complete disruption of banking services.

As of the time of publication, Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) Branch Office (KCP) Lhoksukon 3 remains closed. Similarly, automated teller machines (ATMs) remain unfilled when accessed in several locations.

"Currently, the ATM cannot dispense cash. Please visit the nearest BSI ATM," read the message displayed on the screen of an ATM located at the Ceubrek Village gas station in Lhoksukon when this media crew attempted a transaction on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at around 9:00 a.m. WIB.

Similarly, the BSI ATM located in the Lhoksukon Sharia Court complex also displayed the same message on the cash dispenser screen.

"It seems like it hasn't been filled yet, sir, with the officer, it's been like that since yesterday," said Amir, a local resident who had just exited the ATM when he passed this media crew.

Meanwhile, non-cash transactions via the BYOND app also failed several times. "Please come back later!" was the message displayed on the phone screen when accessing it on Tuesday (December 2, 2025) at around 10:00 a.m. WIB.

Not only BSI, Bank Aceh Syariah (BAS) also appeared to be closed. The Lhoksukon branch office, along with its ATM, also remained closed. This media crew then tried to visit the BAS ATM located in front of the North Aceh SAMSAT office in Tutong Village, but it was still out of service. Similarly, the BAS ATM in the North Aceh Regent's office complex in Landing, when visited on Monday morning (December 1, 2025), was also out of service.

"Even if we have money, we don't necessarily have basic necessities, let alone no money, bro," said Wati, a housewife who was charging her cell phone at the ATM.

Meanwhile, electricity has been gradually restored since Monday (December 1, 2025), although it is not yet widespread in Lhoksukon District, North Aceh. The power outage also results in unstable internet access.[]
