Students of the Political Science Department of Malikussaleh University (Unimal) visited the Lhokseumawe City Panwaslih, Wednesday (11/6/2025). Among other things, they discussed the supervision of regional head elections and the recruitment system for election organizers in Aceh.

A student, Ikhlasul Absor, said that they came to the Lhokseumawe City Panwaslih office to discuss several topics about supervisory institutions. "From this visit, we hope that our friends will get material to be used as the title of their thesis later," he said in front of members of the Lhokseumawe City Panwaslih, Ayi Jufridar and Yuli Asbar.

Ikhlasul Absor questioned the existence of two supervisory institutions in Aceh, namely the Panwaslih which supervises the election and the Panwaslih formed by the DPRK which is tasked with supervising the regional elections.

"How were these two institutions formed and how are they tasked with carrying out supervision," said the student who is active in the Creative Minority of Malikussaleh University.

He also questioned the collaboration and synergy of the Lhokseumawe City Panwaslih with the Police and the Lhokseumawe District Attorney's Office, as well as other stakeholders.

Ayi Jufridar as the Coordinator of the Legal, Prevention, Community Participation, and Public Relations Division of the Lhokseumawe City Panwaslih explained from the regulatory side regarding the formation of a supervisory institution for elections formed by the Indonesian Bawaslu and a supervisory institution for regional elections by the council institution.

"But both were born from Bawaslu's decision. The regional election Panwaslih is ad hoc, while the election Panwaslih is permanent for five years," he explained.

Meanwhile, collaboration and synergy with various stakeholders, including educational institutions, are strengthened by the Lhokseumawe City Panwaslih to support the success of participatory supervision.

The Coordinator of the Division for Handling Violations and Dispute Resolution of the Lhokseumawe City Panwaslih, Yuli Asbar, said that the police and the prosecutor's office are institutions included in the Integrated Law Enforcement Center, as regulated in Bawaslu Regulation Number 3 of 2023.

Responding to Tina Clarisa Pandiangan's question about the performance of the police and prosecutor's office in the Gakkumdu Center, Yuli Asbar explained a number of violation cases handled in the 2024 Election, such as allegations of money politics during the campaign period and manipulation of the vote counting recapitulation.

"The Gakkumudu Center is a coordination forum between Panwaslih, the police, and the prosecutor's office in handling election crimes," said Yuli.[]
