"This is not the end of the journey, but the beginning of a new responsibility as an academic who is ready to serve the community," said the Rector.

The Rector also explained a number of important achievements that Unimal has achieved approaching its 56th year. One of them is a significant increase in the number of new student admissions.

"When we were inaugurated on December 20, 2018, the number of students accepted was only around 3,200 people. Now, in 2025, the number of students accepted has reached more than 7 thousand people for three selection paths, namely SNBP, SNBT, and Mandiri," explained Prof. Herman.

Although Unimal is not located in the provincial capital, continued Herman, it does not reduce the interest of people from all over Indonesia to study at Unimal. "This proves that trust in Unimal is increasing," he said.

In addition, the Rector also said that this year, Unimal was again trusted by the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology as the manager of the Smart Indonesia Card (KIP) for Phase I and the largest in Indonesia.

"We are committed to providing fair service to all students, whether they receive scholarships or not. There is no distinction based on ethnicity, race, or religion. We serve everyone with the principle of equality," concluded Herman.[]
