Four Prospective Rector Candidates for Teuku Umar University Pass Administrative Verification, Here's the Next Schedule

The Rector Selection Committee for Teuku Umar University, Aceh Barat, Indonesia, for the 2026–2030 term has named four prospective candidates who have passed the administrative selection process. This stage is part of the candidate selection process to ensure that each candidate meets all administrative requirements in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
The four prospective rector candidates for Teuku Umar University who have met the administrative requirements are Dr. Ir. Irwansyah, ST, M.Eng, IPM; Prof. Dr. Nyak Amir, S.Pd, M.Pd; and Prof. Dr. Iskandar AS, S.Pd, M.App.Ling. All three prospective candidates come from Syiah Kuala University work units.
The only prospective candidate from Malikussaleh University is Prof. Dr. Ir. Dahlan Abdullah, ST, M.Kom, IPU, ASEAN Eng. Previously, Dr. Hilmi, SE, M.Si, Ak., was also nominated. However, the lecturer from the Faculty of Economics and Business was declared to have failed the administrative requirements.
When contacted separately, Hilmi admitted that he did not meet the administrative requirements and accepted the decision. He hoped the UTU rector election process would run smoothly and lead the university to greater heights and excellence.
The Chair of the Teuku Umar University Rector Election Committee for the 2026–2030 period, Dr. T Alamsyah, SKM, MPH, revealed on Tuesday, March 11, that his committee had determined four qualified candidates after conducting a thorough examination and verification of the completeness and validity of the administrative documents submitted by each candidate.
The results of the administrative verification were submitted to the Teuku Umar University Senate for discussion and approval at the Teuku Umar University Senate Meeting on March 9, 2026.
One candidate, Dr. Hilmi, was declared to have failed the administrative requirements. These provisions refer to Article 4, letter d, number 1 and number 2 of the Regulation of the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education Number 19 of 2017 concerning the Appointment and Dismissal of State University Leaders, in conjunction with Article 2, letter d, number 1 and number 2 of Teuku Umar University Senate Regulation Number 1 of 2026 concerning the Procedures for Selecting the Rector of Teuku Umar University for the 2026–2030 Period.
With the announcement of the results of the administrative selection, the candidate selection process has been completed. The four prospective candidates who meet the requirements will then proceed to the screening phase.
This phase will include a socialization of the prospective candidates to the Teuku Umar University academic community, as well as a presentation of their vision and mission. This will take place on April 23, 2026.
On the same day, the Teuku Umar University Senate will also conduct an election process to determine the three Rector candidates who will advance to the next phase.
The next stage was the election of the Rector of Teuku Umar University, which was carried out in accordance with applicable regulations, with a composition of 65 percent of the University Senate's votes and 35 percent of the Minister's votes.
All stages of the election of the Rector of Teuku Umar University for the 2026–2030 period were carried out in accordance with Regulation of the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education Number 19 of 2017 concerning the Appointment and Dismissal of State University Leaders and Regulation of the Teuku Umar University Senate Number 1 of 2026 concerning Procedures for Electing the Rector of Teuku Umar University for the 2026–2030 Period.
The Rector Election Committee for Teuku Umar University for the 2026–2030 Period consists of Dr. T. Alamsyah as chairman, Dr. Eza Aulia, SH, MH as secretary and member, and Dr. Ir. Fitriadi, ST, MT, IPM as member. They stated that all stages of the administrative selection process were carried out carefully, objectively, and in accordance with applicable regulations.
Alamsyah stated that the administrative verification process was carried out with great care to ensure that each prospective candidate proceeding to the next stage truly met the established requirements.
"We are committed to maintaining integrity, transparency, and accountability at every stage, so that this process can run democratically and produce the best leaders for Teuku Umar University," he emphasized in a written statement.
The Committee Secretary, Eza Aulia, expressed his hope that all stages of the process would run smoothly and receive support from all elements of the Teuku Umar University academic community.
"The rector election process is a crucial moment for the future development of the university. Therefore, we hope that the entire academic community will participate constructively in creating a conducive academic atmosphere throughout the election process," he said.
Fitriadi echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that the committee will continue to work professionally to ensure that each stage runs according to schedule and established regulations.
The committee hopes that the entire process of selecting the Rector of Teuku Umar University for the 2026–2030 period will proceed in an orderly, transparent, and objective manner, upholding the principles of good university governance, thus producing leadership capable of leading Teuku Umar University toward greater progress in the future.[]
