Election Day Scenarios

Time has come again to elect new leaders that could do well to help our country. On this day, I finally got to exercise my rights as a citizen for the first time after many years since I had registered from 2019. I have my reasons from abstaining on the last 2 elections, though. (1) It's mainly because of pandemic and I was stuck in Parañaque which I haven't manage to transfer my residency at the time. (2) I was on duty for my On-the-job Training and I was tasked to monitor the counting of votes until midnight.

This time, there aren't any other reasons for me not to do it anymore. I don't have classes and work on that day, so I can't refuse those rights for now. Plus, the prescint that I was assigned is only a walking distance from my dormitory which will only take me at least 5 minutes to get there.

It's a fine day, but the heat index was spiking high again. Early in the morning, even at 8:00 am, you'll sweat in a minute when you step outside you're home. I'm just grateful that there's a shade beside the wall going there at the school where my prescint is located.

I actually have used the prescint finder online to look where my names was assigned and jumped for joy when I was that it is very near me. When I processed my residency transfer in this Barangay, it wasn't stated which school specifically would be my prescint is. Good thing, the government is innovating. They're adapting to technology to make the processes easier and make the data available online.

This is Bacolod City National High School. It's one of the biggest and oldest schools here in Bacolod. It may look smaller outside but very spaceous inside. They even have a Futsal field and Arts Center.

I'm living in this area for years now and this is actually my campus neighbor. However, it was still the first time that I have ever entered the premises. There wasn't any other reasons for me to go here before and you can't just storm inside randomly because the place is secured for the safety of the students. That's why vistors are limited, just like any other school policies anywhere.

Before getting in line, you need first to find the number of your name under your prescint number. Then, you need to submit that to the Staff, after that, they will give a piece of paper with your number queue. That's when you could fall in line afterwards.

We're just glad that the area is shaded by trees and it's cooler. I have been here from 8:30 am, and when I finally got to vote, it was already past noon. Imagine how tiresome would that be with just queuing to vote. Also, the benches and chairs are limited. There were times that I need to stand there for about 30 minutes before I could get to the area where the chairs are available.

You have to wait in the line for almost 3 hours just to finish voting within 5 minutes. 😄

I felt like I have hiked a mountain from the muscle strains that I got on my legs after that. So, after all that suffering, I deserved an iced coffee. I made the Patata buys this for me, a little reward for voting with a clear conscience.
