Summaries
The story is about world war 2 where they show how people suffer during the war time and a young boy and his younger sister struggling to survive in Japan. There are two characters one is Seita and another one is Setsuko, these are two young Japanese siblings. They are living in the declining days during War. These firebombing separates these two siblings from their parents and after they they decided to rely completely on one another. Moreover, they were struggling to fight for their survival.

Story
The young boy’s name is Seita and his young sister’s name is Setsuko. Both of them are siblings and they are left homeless when their city got firebombed. After that they ended up living with an aunt. Everything was going very well and life was almost getting normal again. However, their aunt was not liking and didn’t want them to stay with her at her place. She was very angry that they are staying with them and it was a uncomfortable situation and then Seita decided to leave the place with his sister to make their aunt relived.
They had found a place to live and things were going well in the beginning but over time food gets scarcer. After a while they started to struggle constantly for survival. Somehow the younger sister got sick because of not eating the brother could bear it but the sister was very young only 4 years old and she was struggling to survive. Then he decided to steal vegetables for his sister but he got caught, he was struggling a lot to make his sister stay alive.
Seita withdraws money from the bank and when he was returning he learns from a crowd that Japan has already surrendered to the Allied Forces. Seita returns to his sister with large quantities of food but he found his sister hallucinating. She tries to to ask her brother to eat little rocks which she thinks of as rice balls. Seita was a little bit afraid of the situation and started to prepare some food. He also gave her some food which is a watermelon, she haves a sip from the watermelon and says it’s tasty and his sister thanks him and closes her eyes. After that she never wakes up.
Review
In the ending when I saw her being dead I did not expect that tragic ending. The way she died it was totally unexpected as I am watching anime I thought it would be good ending with happy life. But yeah it is a good ending because it is showing the reality what happens during the war. How people loses their loved ones in-front of their eyes. How war can never bring peace but destruction.
That young girl died it felt like someone from my side has died I could feel the pain through watching, even though it’s an anime but the feelings are real also the situation I can’t even imagine it in real life. Like what would I do in these type of situations? I can’t think of anything I am totally going blank.
No one actually cares or dares to talk about wars in real life how innocent people are dying but what can we do? We can just watch them and do nothing about it. This anime can soften your heart and have a second thought about wars how people are suffering and they can’t do nothing about it but only struggle to survive.
Grave of the Fireflies is one of the most depressing and the best anime that I have ever seen. I was moved by tears, this movies brave treatment of such serious subject matter. it's an Anime but it made me cry like a kid.
The thing we have from "Grave of the Fireflies," is a story of two children who ultimately faces World War 2 they were innocent still they had to face death. Not only them but many children has died and many innocent people during the war. Those two children had no way of contacting any other family. They embark on a journey which was unpleasant and difficult.
I am really sad, that this movie did not receive many awards as it should. To be honest it is very underrated. As if it is thrown apart. For real it should be respected and praised.
Overall
It is indeed one of the best Anime movie that I have seen. A beautiful anime should not to be missed by anyone so, make sure to watch it. I also, advice you guys to have a handkerchief nearby because the chances are that you will cry. I would simply rate it 10/10. If you are willing to cry then make sure to watch this movie you can also watch it with your family.
I think a good anime is that one which can truly bring out your emotions through their story and that’s what I am seeing that how this anime made me soo much emotional.

This is one of those movies that touches your soul. It's been a long time since I saw it, but it remains fresh in my memories and holds a special place. There are not many animated films of this style, few touch on these realities that the world experienced.

This movie broke my heart despite knowing the end that the sister has died is something that leaves a mark on you, besides they do not show you how sick you are and you only realize the seriousness of the scare when they lift her shirt and you see that she is malnourished. Sadly we can see in the movie the consequences of the wars and how two children who do not know very well what is happening or are just starting to live must be in this ugly situation. Good post <3 I leave sad :(
I have cried a lot and felt something heavy on my chest it was painful to watch the ending.
The ending of this movie is tragic and sad, but realistic. This is the true face of war, those who lose the most are the innocent people who have nothing to do with the interests of war and that is the hardest and saddest reality 😢
A more than touching story that shows us the suffering that people go through in these horrible situations, poor creatures 💔
Even when I think myself in their shoes I think I won't be able to survive a day.

The style of animation of this one is enough to get me interested and the fact that it has historical significance makes me even more interested to check this out.

Although probably unrelated, I remember reading a story like this about two Japanese siblings, victims of war.
The elder, was carrying his younger dead brother in his back and had trekked quite a distance to a safe bunker.
When authorities saw them, they were amazed by the distance the elder brother had trekked all while carrying his dead, heavy brother.
War is a tragic story, especially for those affected but not affiliated with it.
The victim who owns the land bigger countries fight on, suffer the most...
