Mike Saylor compared bitcoin to gold in his portfolio. Saylor's company bought its first bitcoins on August 10, 2020. Since then, bitcoin has posted a 333% gain in value, while gold is up minus 1%.

Another legendary investor, Stanley Drakenmiller, who was part of George Soros' Quantum Fund, got rid of traditional tech stocks.
He reported selling Alphabet (Google) shares for $112 million during the last quarter after buying them in the third quarter of 2023.
He also sold shares of Amazon and Broadcom.

However, Drakenmiller, who has declared himself optimistic about gold, made relatively small bets on two gold miners, Barrick Gold, the largest multinational gold miner, and Newmont, another very significant gold miner, buying 1.76 million shares of the former and 474,000 shares of the latter.

Perhaps this has something to do with Drakenmiller's natural attraction to gold. In November, expressing his concern about the state of the U.S. economy, Drakenmiller said, "I'm 70 years old, I have gold. I like gold because this brand is 5,000 years old."

The acquisition of the two stocks, which have been suffering losses and underperforming the underlying commodity since the start of 2024, has attracted other investors to the sector.

However, Druckenmiller's biggest bet remains artificial intelligence. He owns more than $400 million worth of shares in Microsoft, a technology company that has invested more than $10 billion in Openai, as well as in Nvidia, a company that has capitalized on the use of its hardware and tools for artificial intelligence purposes. He also said he has acquired shares in Adobe and Arista.

In addition to bitcoin and gold, real investors are putting a lot of money into AI. Even Sam Altman's famous shiatcoin Worldcoin (WLD) rose 160% in just a couple days after launching its Sora product.
