Juan Salvo sets out on a mission to find his daughter and ex-wife, while tensions inside Tano’s home continue to rise.

The story begins with a specific set of characters that evolves over the course of the episodes. But the core group consists of Juan, Tano, Tano’s wife Elena, Omar, Lucas, and El Ruso, who work together to piece together what’s really happening outside. What seemed like just another night of cards, friends, and drinks turns into a full-blown nightmare.

Then comes Inga, a Venezuelan delivery driver who joins the group and experiences the full madness and fear brought on by the deadly snowfall. But Juan is focused solely on getting out of Tano’s house to search for his daughter and ex-wife. Despite disagreements, tension, and discomfort among the group, they do their best to stick together and face the terrifying unknown.

AESTHETICS

I think the series is quite engaging, with a very cinematic use of color grading. The cool tones stand out, effectively placing us in the snowy setting. It also enhances the overall atmosphere of crisis that permeates the story. I really appreciated that—being a Latin American production, it closely resembles the style of non-Spanish-language sci-fi formats, which usually lead the genre.

I’d say the first episode is quite dark in terms of lighting, but that also contributes to the narrative of unease and uncertainty surrounding the unexpected and toxic snowfall.

THE STORY

Now, if we focus on the story itself, it's quite interesting to see how the group evolves, how the city is affected, and how chaos gradually unfolds. It’s a very realistic series—events happen progressively. First we witness shock, fear, desperation, cunning, selfishness, madness, and collective panic. But we also see the opposite: kindness, friendship, perseverance, resilience, patience, love, and even unity.

El Eternauta portrays how a seemingly ordinary group of middle-aged men manage to use their skills and talents to protect their loved ones. And I mention their age because we're used to seeing these kinds of stories told through much younger characters—full of intense action scenes and highly stylized personas. However, El Eternauta highlights social closeness and invites us to ask: what would really happen if we lived through something like this? Terrifying!

CHAOS

One of the things that frustrated me the most was watching how the chaos slowly brewed in silence. There were a few bursts—like looting—but overall, the tension kept rising with every passing minute. With no power, no signal, no phones, and no connection to the outside world, it was nearly impossible to know what was really going on. Was it a local crisis? Regional? Global? Everything was uncertain.

Juan and his group weren’t exempt from the chaos—there were lies, hidden motives, and even fear of each other. What they go through is genuinely moving—the decisions they’re forced to make, and the consequences they must face.

That’s how the first few episodes unfold, immersed in escalating chaos. Then, despite the bleak and unpromising landscape, we see them adapt. They begin to move with purpose through the snow, exploring new areas. Until an even more ominous chaos reveals itself: the aliens. Oh no, I was done at that point! 😂 I would’ve already frozen solid with the snow, but when I saw those creatures and realized what Juan and his group were up against—I nearly fell over. It’s not just the drama of trying to find your family in the middle of an apocalyptic scenario… now you add an alien invasion to the mix. The war feels completely one-sided.

But I’ll let the rest be a surprise. The series has six episodes, each over 40 minutes long, and it leaves us with a truly unsettling ending. Now the question is: will they have to fight against themselves? Because the invasion has reached a much deeper, more terrifying level. No, no… it’s all just too much!

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, you have to watch it. This isn’t just another run-of-the-mill story—and that’s coming from someone who doesn’t usually get hooked on this kind of narrative. But I genuinely appreciate how the series brings this plot to life with characters who feel so close to reality.

And I can't overlook the fact that a Venezuelan girl shows up doing deliveries in Buenos Aires in the middle of an alien invasion scene. She represents the social engine of migration over the last decade.

If you think about it, throughout human history, there have been countless migrants who’ve found themselves caught in war zones, epidemics, and other tragic events that rarely get talked about—they’re often just counted as another casualty. So that inclusion felt powerful to me, and it absolutely shouldn’t go unnoticed.

In the end, El Eternauta is more than just a sci-fi series.

Drama, suspenso, invasión alinígena y mucha nieve es lo que nos trae El Eternauta una serie basada en una historia de ciencia ficción argentina. Donde veremos cómo los habitantes de la ciudad de Buenos Aires se replantean toda su vida tratando de entender lo que sucede alrededor de ellos.

SINOPSIS:

Juan Salvo y su grupo de amigos se reúnen para jugar truco cuando se va la luz y comienza a caer una nevada de lo más inusual y mortal. Cada uno empieza a idear estrategias para sobrevivir a lo que sea que está sucediendo fuera de la casa de Tano, cuando las cosas comienzan a cobrar un sentido espeluznante. Juan Salvo inicia una expedición para dar con su hija y su ex esposa. Mientras las cosas en la casa de Tano cada vez se ponen más tensas.

La historia arranca con un número determinado de personajes que se van modificándose a lo largo de los episodios. Pero el grupo núcleo son Juan, Tano, Elena esposa de Tano, Omar, Lucas y el Ruso, quienes van encajando las piezas de lo que sucede fuera de la casa de Tano. Y lo que parecía una noche más de truco, amigos, y tragos se convierte en una verdadera pesadilla.

A la escena llega Inga una delivery venezolana que se suma al grupo para vivir toda la locura del miedo que se sitúa frente a ellos con la nevada mortal. Pero Juan solo piensa en cómo salir en casa de Tano para buscar a su hija y a su ex esposa. Todos sortearán las dificultades de lo que está sucediendo. Pese a los roces, peleas, e incomodidad entre el grupo, buscan mantenerse unidos.

Estética

Creo que la serie es bastante atractiva tiene una colorimetría bastante cinematográfica. Destacando los colores fríos que nos contextualizan en la escena nevada. Además resalta toda la atmósfera de crisis que se respira. Eso me gustó muchísimo porque al ser una producción latina, se asemeja a los formatos de ciencia ficción de habla no hispana, que llevan la delantera con este tipo de géneros.
Pudiera decir que el primer episodio es bastante oscuro a nivel de iluminación pero igual eso forma parte de la narrativa de zozobra que hay tras la nevada inesperada y tóxica.

LA HISTORIA:

Ahora sino centramos en la historia es bastante interesante ver cómo se desenvuelve el grupo, cómo se encuentra la ciudad y cómo se dispara el caos alrededor. Es una serie bastante realista, los eventos van sucediendo de forma paulatina. Primero vemos el shock, el miedo, la desesperación, la viveza, el egoísmo, la locura, el pánico colectivo. Pero también veremos el otro extremo, la bondad, la amistad, la perseverancia, la resiliencia, la paciencia, el amor y hasta la unión.

El Eternauta viene a representar cómo un grupo casual hombres de mediana edad, logran aplicar sus talentos y habilidades para seguir protegiendo a los suyos. Y menciono lo de la edad, porque nos acostumbraron a ver este tipo de historias con personajes muchos más jóvenes, con fuertes escenas de acción y perfiles super elaborados. Sin embargo, El Eternauta resalta la cercanía social y te invita a cuestionar qué sucedería si viviéramos algo así. ¡De miedo!

CAOS

Uno de los aspectos que más me desesperaron era precisamente ver cómo se gestaba el caos en silencio, había uno que otro estallido como saqueo. Pero en definitiva, la tensión iba en ascenso con cada minuto que pasaba. Sin luz, sin señal, sin teléfonos ni conexión con el mundo era muy difícil saber qué estaba sucediendo, o cuál era el panorama completo, si era una situación local, regional o no. Todo era incertidumbre.

Juan y su grupo no se excluía del caos, había mentiras, tramas en silencio y hasta miedo de ellos mismos. Es realmente conmovedor todo lo que viven, las decisiones a las que deben enfrentarse y sus consecuencias.

Así transitan los primeros episodios centrados en el caos. Luego, a pesar de lo irregular y poco pintoresco que figuraba el panorama, hay adaptación, se mueven con gracia sorteando la nevada, exploran otras zonas. Hasta que un caos mucho más silente se deja ver, los alienígenas. ¡Ay, no, paila con eso! Ja, ja, ja, yo ya hubiese quedado tiesa con la nieve pero cuando vi esos bichos y a los que se enfrentarían Juan y su grupo, me caí pa'trás. No es solo el drama de encontrar a tu familia en medio de un escenario apocalíptico sino que a eso le añades una invasión extraterreste. La guerra no parece estar equilibrada.

Pero eso y más espero que sea sorpresa para ustedes. La serie cuenta con 6 episodios de más de 40 minutos cada uno, y nos deja un final de lo más preocupante. Con la interrogante de que ahora ¿tendrán que luchar contra ellos mismos? porque la invasión llegó a un nivel mucho más profundo y terrorífico. No, no, terrible todo.

CONCLUSIÓN

En conclusión tienen que verla, la historia no es una más del montón, y eso que no me engancho fácilmente con este tipo de historias. Pero se agradece la realización de esta trama con personajes tan cercanos a la vida real. Además, no puedo pasar desapercibido el hecho de que aparezca una chica venezolana haciendo delivery en Buenos Aires en medio de una escena de invasión alienígena, representa al músculo social de la migración en la última década.

Y si lo pensamos bien, en la historia humana ha habido una gran cantidad de migrantes que han quedado atrapados en escenarios de guerra, enfermedades y otros tantos eventos fatídicos de los que no se hablan mucho, solamente se contabilizan como una víctima más. Así que esa inclusión me pareció espectacular y creo que no debe ignorarse. Pero, en fin, el Eternauta es más que una serie de ciencia ficción.
