Splinterlands Challenge — Magi of Chaos VS Mantaroth
Cover made using images and elements from Splinterlands.
Hello everyone, this time I will be participating in this Splinterlands Challenge, where I will be showing you a battle in the modern ranked league, one of which, only neutral units will be allowed.
First, let's talk a little bit about Magi of Chaos, the only magic unit in the modern format that has a magic attack power of 4, and the unit that will be the protagonist of this battle.

Source
Magi of Chaos may only have one ability, but he is the mage unit that has the highest magic power attack being a neutral unit, not even legendary neutral magic units have such power.
Magi of Chaos starts with no abilities, but at level 5 gains the OPPRESS ability, which allows him to deal double damage to enemy units that have no attack or are trained by the Weapons Training ability.
I really like Magi of Chaos, although it is a "simple" unit, it is one of the neutral units I have played the most, it helps a lot especially in only magic battles.
Since Magi of Chaos only has a speed of 2, the REVERSE SPEED modifier benefits him greatly, when active, he will be one of the first units to attack, and units with higher speed will be the last.
Since Magi of Chaos has a magic attack power of 4, units with the MAGIC REFLECT ability that are damaged by Magi, will deal 2 magic damage to him, as this ability reflects 50% of the magic damage dealt to them.
HOW TO OBTAIN
Available on the market. At the time of writing this post, a max level Magi of Chaos costs $13 (each BCX $0.28) and a level 1 costs $0.24.
And currently, there is no max level golden foil available, but a level 2 cots $4.75.

BATTLE
There are three modifiers active this time. The first is the Shades of Grey modifer, which only allows neutral units to be summoned. Then the Super Sneak modifier, which causes all melee units except those in the first position to attack the enemy unit that is in the last position. Lastly, only a max of 5 units will be allowed due to the High Five modifer.

I decided to choose Eternal Tofu as my summoner, who grants my units the Thorns ability, allowing them to deal 2 physical damage to enemy melee units that attack them. Also, my units will gain +2 health and the snare ability (removes the flying ability when attacking). Additionally, I chose the right-tactic to grant the Triage and Scavenger ability to Magi of Chaos, so now he can heal a backline ally each turn and gain +1 max health each time any unit dies.
In the first position I put Grimbardun Smith, who will take 50% less damage from all types of attacks thanks to his Shield and Void abilities. It is also immune to negative effects such as poison. Additionally, repairs 2 armor points to an ally each turn.
Halfling Refugee in the second position, a very good unit that only cots 1 mana and has an attack power of 5. Additionally, he heals himself for a third of his max health each turn, unless his Weary ability triggers, which prevents him from healing and attacking.
Magi of Chaos in the third position, ready to destroy some enemy units.
In the fourth position, Supply Runner, my only ranged unit in this battle, will passively increase the speed and health of all my units by 1.
In the fifth position, Arkemist the Bear, who will take hits from the melee enemy units due to the Super Sneak modifier. Arkemis will give +2 armor to all allies, and will only take 1 damage if the damage is greater than 5. Additionaly, Arkemis' attacks halve the attack of the enemy units. In addition, if Arkemis' health is not at full, its melee attack and speed are increased by 50%.
In the first and second round, some units are damage but none are defeated. But in the third round, my Arkemis the Bear is destroyed after attacking Grimbardun Fighter due to the Thorns ability. After that, Magi of Chaos defeats the enemy Grimbardun Smith.
In the fourth round, Grimbardun Fighter defeats my Supply Runner. Then, Magi of Chaos defeats the enemy Venator Kinjo.
In the fifth round, no unit is defeated.
In the sixth round, Magi of Chaos defeats the enemy Spirit Hoarder.
From the seventh to the eighth round, no unit is defeated. In the ninth round, Halfling Refugee is defeated by Mantaroth's Blast ability after it attacks my Grimbardun Smith.
In the eleventh round, Magi of Chaos defeats Mantaroth. And in the fourteenth round, Magi defeats the last enemy, Grimbardun Fighter, ending the battle.

Full Battle
Since all the melee units will attack the last enemy unit in the last position due to the Super Sneak modifer, I decided to put Magi of Chaos in the third position, since this is a magic unit and will not be affected by this effect and will attack the enemy frontline unit.
It was a very good choice here and Magi of Chaos shows how good he is, managing to destroy all enemy units by himself. Thanks to all my units, who helped him avoid taking serious damage, he was able to win this battle.
Mantaroth dealt a lot of damage to my units, but this time it couldn't destroy Magi of Chaos. Only my Grimbardun and Magi were able to survive.
That's all for now guys, if you haven't played Splinterlands yet, you can join with my referral link. See you on the battlefield!
