Hello everyone, this time I will be participating in this Splinterlands Challenge, where I will be showing you a battle in the modern ranked league, one of which, only neutral units can be summoned.

First, let's talk a little bit about Isgald Vorst, one of the most powerful common gladius units, and one of the strongest units I will be playing in this battle.

Source

Isgald Vorst can reach a melee attack power of 5 at max level, making it one of the most powerful common gladius units, second only to Chimney Wallstop (fire unit, 6 attack power).

As Isgald is a gladius unit, she has the BLOODLUST ability, which allows her to gain +1 to all stats every time he defets an enemy unit.

She also starts with the OPPORTUNITY ability, which allows her to attack the enemy unit with the lowest health, which is good for taking out weaker enemy units first.

And at level 6, she gains the PIERCING ability, so if her attacks surpass the target's armor, the remainder damage is dealt to the target's health.

Isgald Vorst is usually only playable in Guild Brawls, but if the Are you Not Entertained modifier is active, she can be summoned in ranked battles. I currently have Isgald Vorst at level 6, but she is still pretty cool.

WEAKNESESS

Since Isgald is a melee unit, these abilities are good against her.

Units with the THORNS ability will damage melee units like Isgald Vorst, dealing 2 physical damage after being attacked.

Units with the CORROSIVE WARD ability, will reduce the max armor and armor of the melee unit attack them by 2.

HOW TO OBTAIN

Currently, Isgald is only available in Gladius Cases, which can be purchased for 2000 merits each in the Guild Store.

Merits can be earned in Guild Brawl battles and can also be purchased for a certain amout of Glint in the Shop Rewards.

Each Gladius Case contains 5 random Gladius cards, at least one of which is guaranteed to be rare or better.

BATTLE

There are three modifiers active this time. The first is the Are you not Entertained? modifier, which allows you to summon a gladiator unit, that's why I was able to play Isgald. Then the Reverse Speed modifier, will then cause higher speed units to attack last and have a lower chance of evading attacks, while lower speed units will attack first. Finally, the Taking Sides modifier, will prohibit the use of neutral units in this battle.

I'm playing with my langice account. I decided to use Kelya Frendul as my summoner. She's not really good when the Reverse Speed is active as she will give my units +1 speed, but the +1 armor is great. Since there were only two elements available, I preferred to use Kelya instead of the dragon summoners.

In the first position I put Cruel Sethropod, this unit may not have any abilities but it has excellent stats, 3 melee attack power and its durability is quite high having 7 health and 6 armor.

Tide Biter in the second position, so he can attack from here thanks to his Reach ability. Also, he will not be affected by sources such as thorns, corrosive ward or blast abilities. Additionally, all of his attacks have 100% acurracy.

Next, I summon Angelic Mandarin, which will heal an allied backline unit each turn, and passively reduce the magic attack of enemy units by 1 while it is alive.

In the fourth position, Deeplurker, which will attack the enemy unit with the lowest health due to its Opportunity ability. Also, their attacks have a 50% chance to apply posion, taking 2 damage at the start of each turn. In addition, it will reduce the melee attack of the enemy units by 1.

Isgald Vorst in the fifth position, ready to become stronger with each unit she defeats.

Igor Darkspear will be my last unit, it only has one ability, but it's pretty good since it has a 50% chance to stun the enemy target it attacks, skipping their turn.

In the first round, Isgald Vorst defeats the enemy frontline unit, Hardy Stonefish, thanks to this she gains +1 to all stats. Then, Tide Biter defeats the enemy Vruz.

In the second round, Daarg Deadblast defeats my Cruel Sethropod. Then, my Deeplurker applies poison to the big whale Baakjira.

In the third round, Daarg Deadblast defeats another of my units, this time Tide Biter is the victim.

In the fourth round, the enemy Daarg defeats Angelic Mandarin. Then, Deeplurker defeats the enemy Baakjira.

In the fifth round, the enemy Merdaali Guardian unit defeats my Deeplurker. After that, Isgald Vorst defeats Daarg Deadblast, increasing +1 to all of her stats.

In the sixth and seventh rounds, the enemy Merdaali dodged Isgald's attacks, so it survives those rounds.

In the eighth round, my Igor Darkspear defeats Merdaaly Guardian. And now the only enemy unit is Kra'ar Xoc, who cannot attack so my victory is assured.

From the ninth to the tenth round, Kra'ar managed to survive. But in the eleventh round, Igor defeats it, ending the battle.

Full Battle

This battle lasted a little longer than expected, due to the continuous failed attacks that Isgald made due to her high speed.

The enemy Daarg Deadblast was able to defeat 3 of my units in the first 3 rounds, but was stopped thanks to my Isgald Vorst.

The enemy made a mistake by putting Kra'ar Xoc in the last positon, as it has no attack, perhaps he put it there for possible sneak units, but he played with Lily Shieldpaw as summoner so his units gained the Camouflage ability, allowing them to not be hit by direct attacks. It would be better placed in the second or third position. Thanks to this, I had an easier way to win this battle, two of my units survived this time.

That's all for now guys, if you haven't played Splinterlands yet, you can join with my referral link. See you on the battlefield!
