The Struggles of Airdrop Hunting in the New Web3 Era: Should We Give Up or Adapt?
Source
Over the years, web3 has been a major source of income for young people looking to become rich or have a stable lifestyle, and not just as a source of income, it also gave financial freedom and clear transparency. There are different things people did in web3 to become successful or still doing to become successful, things like trading NFTs, playing web3 games. Trading coins can be shorting or longing coins, and the major one which is hunting crypto project airdrops.
Airdrop hunting was seamlessly easy and one of the fastest means to make cool cash from crypto projects, all you need to do is farm the projects by doing tasks, testnet transactions and just be dedicated to tasks required of the project. Some needed $0 to farm some just needed little money for gas fee transactions and at the end you’d see the benefit of your time, energy and efforts put into it. No matter how small the reward, what matters is that you were paid for participating in or testing the project.
In recent months, it has become clear that crypto airdrop is not just for only those participating in it but also those that didn’t. At first, people were worried about rugpulls, fake hypes, high gas fee demands and sometimes tasks that are difficult to complete. Now, we must worry about strict KYCs, Binance Alpha, Kaito Yappers and even getting codes to access the testnet platform.
Since the introduction of Binance Alpha and Kaito yappers, it has become extremely difficult for people to be inclusive in the distribution of crypto airdrops despite their participation and dedication instead it has been distributed to Binance traders despite them participating in the testnets or even knowing anything about the project. For Kaito yappers, it is understandable that they talked about the projects so it’s fair they get something, but the problem is they get more allocation than the actual testers.
The fairness of hunting airdrops has been exploited, fewer rewards and those who held on to it are now losing faith in web3. Because even if one wants to participate in the Yapping it takes a lot to even compete with verified accounts and not just verified accounts but those with huge followers and influencers on the platform. So now my question is, what can we do not to give up?

This will be changing constantly. Every cycle had their different schemes. In Defi summer 2020, most airdrops were just based on previous usage of the live product. As you wrote, this changed dramatically. You'll always be able to make some "free" money in crypto, but you'll have to adapt to the best possible ways. You might end up wanting to become a KOL of sorts, too, but this game has also been changing a lot. Things also tend to resurface in different shapes or forms, so you don't have to quit, just remain patient and vigilant
Well said. Honestly, you are right, the space will keep evolving and the rules of the game will continue to change. The only thing we can do is keep adapting instead of giving up and hopefully our patience, consistency, and staying updated will always give an edge.
