Paseo Macuto

Last weekend, my family and I escaped to Paseo Macuto, that little corner of the Central Coast that holds so many memories—not just for many people, but especially for me. I used to visit often as a child, and walking those pathways again, though unintentional, awakened memories filled with the scent of salty breezes and the murmur of the sea.

Macuto also bears the scars of that tragic December in 1999, which left deep wounds on its people and infrastructure. Today, though the marks remain, it’s inspiring to see restoration efforts slowly bringing back its shine. Yes, the landscape has changed, and not everything matches my childhood recollections… but its Caribbean essence endures. The vibrant colors, the aroma of fried fish, and that unique blend of calm and liveliness still make it special.

Along the promenade, businesses are reopening, hotels are active (some with lovely terraces!), and life is returning. Macuto isn’t the same as it once was, but it remains a classic, and for me, it will always hold a special place.

Yes, some of the landscape photos really show once you manage to capture some really beautiful photos and moments there ❤️

The place is very beautiful, starting from the mountain views to the busy beaches, it was truly an extraordinary trip.

Yeah! That mountain in the back is part of the great Waraira Repano. A mountain that crosses a good part of the central coast.
